I have a stupid question

I scheduled an appointment with my Gyn for next Wednesday, but yesterday I remembered that I should be starting my period right around then (I don't have perfect 28 day cycles so I may or may not be). Do I need to cancel my appointment? I'm really desperate to get in for an exam because I want to get an IUD before we leave the country, but if I have to push the exam back a week there is no way I'm going to be able to get it in time.

Mine tell me to reschedule for that reason but I think some doctors have you come in anyways.

Honestly, if you are going in for IUD insertion, that is the PERFECT time. You will need to have it done when you are on your period, so it may work out after all.

When I had my chemical pregnancy and I was bleeding heavily my doctor had to do a pelvic exam. I kept apologizing and he was like "duh, I am a gyno, this stuff doesn't phase me at all". But then did make me lay on a towel......LOL.

I know those circumstances are a tad different but my doctor didn't seem to care/mind about the blood.

Wait, you have to have the IUD inserted during your period? If so, I am screwed. Next week is just supposed to be my consultation. I'd be getting my IUD three weeks later when I definitely will not have my period. Gah, I really really hope I can get this mother effer before I leave. I don't even know if they do IUDs in KSA. .

I'm sure your gyno doesn't care about a little period blood. But it may mean you need to reschedule your pap. And I know they won't insert an IUD w/o a pap. Just call and ask - tell them you are interested in IUD insertion (they may need you to fill the prescription at a pharmacy and bring in the IUD) and tell them you may be starting your period and ask if they can still do a pap and the IUD insertion at the same appt.

They can always dilate you, but that can be painful, cramp-wise.

They will be ordering the IUD after the my consultation and they say it takes about two weeks to get it. We're talking about literally doing the insertion the week I leave for FL for my pre-move visit.

They definitely shouldn't do a PAP if you're bleeding. My OB did one when I was 6 weeks pregnant and bleeding lightly and it came back abnormal. They wanted me to go through a colposcopy and everything, I was like no way. I'm having it repeated tomorrow. I would definitely call and ask since you're on a tight time schedule.

My last gyn appt I was on my period.. it started unexpectedly..like the morning i went to the gyn.stupidunpredictableperiod.

She said if it was light enough it would be okay, but if it was to heavy i'd have to come back.. I was horrified, but what could I do.

Good to know about the IUD process.. I plan on asking for one when i go in Aug.
