Weekend Getaway Spots?

Hi girls!

I am prompted to ask from the "Getting to know you" post since it mentioned trips...

I can no longer fly, but the husband and I would like to take a long weekend somewhere (driving distance) before the baby comes.

*I bought us Hall and Oates Tickets (whoop whoop!!) for June, but we want to go away.

I heard Cape May was nice, I've never been.

We go to Vermont often...

Any suggestions on nice places to go for a long weekend?

TIA!!

  • I love the Pocono's in PA and Rhinebeck! If either one's interest you, let me know and I will give you some suggestions on where to stay and what to do. =)

  • Philly, Baltimore, DC, and Boston are all just a train ride away.

Saratoga Springs is a bit further but worth the trip.

North Fork is always nice in my book and very close by.

  • block island, in rhode island, is FABULOUS.  such a different world!  naragansett is easier to get to, though, and also very cute.

The Pocono's is fairly large, so it all depends on what you want to do, but we've stayed in a few places in different areas. We've stayed at http://www.cranberrymanor.com/ and it was very nice. It was close to the Crossings outlets and I think it is close to Camelback beach. You can also go to the large flea market on route 209 or Bushkills Falls for a nice walk. It's not far from the delaware water gap, which is beautiful. Further north we stayed at http://www.cliffparkinnandgolf.com/accomodations.html and it was absolutely beautiful. I was just looking on their website for the awesome deal DH and I got there last year and I don't see it, but you can always ask if they still offer it. We paid for the room accomodations and an extra $50 a day to eat dinner there as well as breakfast...the food was delicious and well worth it. There is a cute town called Milford and it has little shops to look in. Also, we did a tour of a mansion that was really nice. Let me know if you want anymore info.

  • Every week I get an email from the living social escapes website. They have some pretty nice deals for nearby locations.  I believe these deals are updated every Wednesday. :)
  • Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC (just got back, it was awesome!), Newport RI.
