Who would you call to haul away or chip/shred a bunch of trees?

DH and I have been slowly cutting out the ridiculous amount of honeysuckle that has taken over our backyard, plus a few dead trees (previous owners must not have been into yardwork!). We have several good-size piles now. Our original plan was to rent a chipper-shredder and do it ourselves, but now we're thinking it's worth the money to pay someone to do this work, since all the brush/trees has to be hauled up a steep set of steps and then fed into the chipper/shredder (I don't think anyone could get the machine down to our backyard).

So, who would you call for such a job? A tree company? Landscaper? If you have any recommendations, I'll gladly take them. TIA!

  • I honestly would call my handyman Joe he does it all lol. He is my one stop shop and if he can't do it he know the right people to do it for a great price. If you want his contact info send me an email at erica_crawford@hotmaildotcom
  • It sounds like it may be a bit of a chore to get to them. If hauling them away on your own is an option, Ohio Mulch accepts loads of trees/branches etc for free. There are a few locations around town I'm not sure where you live so I don't know if there is one near or not. But, it's a free option none the less. We cleared out a bunch of brush in the very back of our yard and that is where we took it and dropped it off, no questions asked.

We might end up doing something like that for the smaller stuff later in the year (thanks for the idea!), but right now we've got so much stuff it'd take at least 5 trips with a pickup truck to move it all. But then if I start getting quotes for $1,000, I might reconsider doing it myself (-=
