local crime reports?

wasn't there a website where you can put in your zip code and see recent crime reports? usually they don't hit the paper until a week or more later i've noticed. i heard from my neighbor that someone pulled a knife on a man and his son at a park down the street Indifferent but she wasn't too clear on when or what exactly happened and i want to find out more details...

  • crimereports.com

Also, I have had some luck calling the local police district and asking them about an incident.

  • I was wondering too!

There was a drug bust on the corner of our street and i'm nosey.

  • The Washington Post local section has them every Thursday. But there aren't too many details. I usually check them every week. Thankfully, the ones in our neighborhood are far and few between.

  • Our local police districts have listservs (all of the MPD's in DC are Yahoo! Groups)... and I've had good luck sending a query out on those to get more details about a specific crime. They also send out the nightly crime reports from the previous day as well! Might be worth looking into if your local police do the same...

  • Hmm... Fairfax County doesn't participate, but oh my god are there a lot of sex offenders on the map.  It seems like every development has at least one.
