Any vacation plans?

Where is everyone off to this year? I always enjoy hearing what everyone has planned.

Re: Any vacation plans?

  • not really, just an anniversary three day weekend in september. not sure where to yet. I'd love to go on an actual vacation, but all of our money is going to ivf (or at least if feels that way!)

  • We will be doing our annual camping/gold prospecting trip the week of July 4th. So excited to get out of the Bay Area to get some fresh air and peace and quiet.

We are going to Mexico in November for DH's cousin wedding. We plan on making it a mini vacation out of it too.

  • San Diego and South Lake Tahoe/Reno
  • I'm currently in Disneyworld for a conference but I have two days free and the evenings too so I'm counting it as a vacation, especially because I'm not paying for it!  DH and I are going to take a semi-local weekend trip before the baby comes but we haven't figured out the details of that yet.

  • We're going on a cruise in Aug that starts in NYC goes to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Maine, Rhode Island, and then Boston. Other than that I hope to make it Big Sur for our anniversary on our way down to L.A.
  • I'm going to Santa Cruz in 14 days for the 19th through the 23rd...and it can't come fast enough!  Other than that, I don't have anything planned but I think that the boy and I might try to plan some smaller trips...and I'll probably go camping with my parents for a few days...
  • I love hearing about all the California based trips! We were really bad visiting a lot of great California spots when we lived there. We never even made it to Yosemite! :(

I'm headed to Ohio in a few weeks to visit my grandmother. We aren't going anywhere this summer. I think summer's are typically too beautiful here to go other places. And then in October we get to go back to The Big Island for a trip my husband won through work. We might go up to Victoria in October too, but that depends on the Hawaii trip.

Travel definitely feels more low-key for us this year. I'd love to do a weekend getaway somewhere local.  I am still a temp at this job so I'm trying not to take too much time off.

I always start counting down when there is 30 days or less! I can't wait to hear about your trip and see pictures!

This sounds awesome! I haven't visited that part of the country and am really looking forward to going there someday. I'm really eager to visit Boston specifically.

Yeah, I'm most excited about the Canadian part. I hope to see Dalhousie Univ in Halifax, Nova Scotia where L.M. Montgomery went to college. That's what she based Redmond/Anne of the Island on. I've been to Maine before but never to Boston and I haven't spent much time in NYC either. So I'm excited about those, too.
  • We are trying to plan a trip to Oklahoma City in July for our car club's national show. We originally wanted to drive and tow DH's car to the show but that is not going to work anymore with the price of diesel and having a two month old so we are planning on flying if I can find good airfare.

  • We're going to Yosemite next week, hopefully before the mobs arrive after school gets out. Not other major plans besides that.

  • We might go to Morro Bay this summer. Everyone in the Central Valley heads over their once the temperatures go up. It's funny to see the streets lined with cars with Fresno license plate frames. We might head up to Yosemite for a day. We say every year we're going to go and we never do but I would really like to go.

  • In August I'm going on a camping road trip with my sister and best friend to the Grand Canyon, Southern Utah National Parks, and Sedona. I can't WAIT!

At some point while I'm home I'll be doing another road trip up through Oregon and Washington to scout out the list of places we have in our heads to settle down in when C gets out of the military (in 10 years). We're silly dreamers like that...

In January I'll be going on a 2 week trip to Costa Rica with a class I'll be taking.

In the meantime I'll be planning our grand SE Asia tour we're planning to take when C gets back from his deployment next year.

    Lots to look forward to!

  • We're staying domestic this year. CA, Chicago, and DC.

  • since we are not going to be able to go back to the states with the baby this year, we want to take several small trips.  hopefully we will be able to escape part of the NZ winter by going to one of the islands, perhaps tonga, samoa, rarotonga, or back to fiji.  also, i'd like to head down south to the hot springs sometime this winter.  then for christmas (our summer), we are trying to rent a bach at the beach.  i am so excited to do the kiwi tiki tour of parts of NZ with our wee boy and show him his beautiful country.
  • Since I'm not working, we're just doing mini trips this year. We are going to Monterey for our anniversary next month, and staying for 4 nights. We're also trying to make it to Disneyland in October/November.

  • I wish we had vacation plans... After our tax bill and my furlough at work this year, that is very unlikely. The closest thing we have to a vacation is a visit to see our friends who just moved to CO over the 4th of July. It'd be cheaper since we'd get to crash at their place and at DH's uncle's place. But we're not totally sure we're even doing that.

Yeah, I feel you. I didn't think we'd be going anywhere this year either but MIL had already booked this cruise before FIL died so we're basically taking his spot. So she's paying for most of the trip. Part of the trip is to do a ceremony to spread FIL ashes, too.
  • We are headed to Maui in 8 days!! Cant wait. We are celebrating our 5 year anniversary. Hoping this next week flies by!

  • I just got back from 8 days in Turks and Caicos. It was amazing. We dont have any real vacation plans again until maybe the fall. I'll make a trip home to visit family though.
  • Not sure, yet. We'd love to go somewhere for a day or two before the baby comes, but not sure that's in the cards since we're buying a house.

We're hoping to go somewhere like Hawaii or the Caribbean for Thanksgiving week.
