Is this week over yet?

Ugh, you guys, I think my BFF is getting a divorce.  And I backed into a visitor's car in my driveway this past weekend.  Someone tell me something funny.

Re: Is this week over yet?

  • *HUGS* I'm sorry it isn't going your way!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA (to the autocorrect thing)!  If it helps Megan, my BFF got a divorce about a year ago and I sideswiped a coworkers car about two weeks ago.

  • DYAC never fails to cheer me up.  Thanks. :)

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one running into stuff.  She's only had the car for three weeks...so she wasn't super-excited about it.

Her divorce obviously isn't my thing, but man.  I can't think of a darn thing to say to her.  I mean, it'll get better and she'll be less stressed after it's done, but it's not like I've been down that road to give her for-real advice.

Luckily I knew the person that I hit and they are the nicest person in the world and my insurance turned out to be amazing so that wasn't too big of a deal.  But I did feel like a major tool at first.

The divorce thing is tough.  It's exactly like you said, there is nothing you can really say because you have no experience with the situation.  And then my BFF, who is also a recovering alcoholic, started in with the "I will never meet anyone else" and "I will never have kids because I will be too old by the time I do meet someone else" thing.  And this all happened when I was pregnant so it made me feel really guilty about having a husband and a future baby.  She hasn't really dated since the divorce and it is a really touchy subject.

HUGS to you because I know it isn't easy!

  • Aww...that's tough...and exactly why my work week sometimes seems pretty nice...today is my Friday!

I had a close friend get divorced a few years ago...it was a long time coming (honestly, since before the wedding...) and it was her decision, but it was still really hard on her.  DH and I wound up getting engaged like 2 months after she broke the news to us, so I felt terrible calling her up to tell her - she actually said that she was thrilled to be hearing happy, positive news from those around her and she said focusing on those things helped her get through the tough first year.  So, take your conversations with her slowly, but see if you can feel out how she'll react to happy news and funny stories - try not to avoid her because you don't know what to say, which I know is what I was doing inadvertently, at first.

Friday will be here soon enough  Drinks

    Ooh, tres jealous!

  • *HUGS*

Divorce sucks, it's a tricky thing no matter what. When I was getting divorced my BFF basically just said, "I don't really know what you're going through, but I am here for you in whatever way you need." It helped a lot. Just knowing she was there, and had my back, made me feel better.

DamnYouAutoCorrect is hilarious! I love that site!

  • So I was talking to one of my coworkers today...

His stepson's girlfriend is pregnant with twins... They're flat broke, so my coworker and his wife move them back up here to help out when the babies are born.

My coworker's wife takes the girlfriend to her appointment, They were unable to find the babies on an ultrasound... Yeah, she's supposedly like 4 months preg... so the doc does a blood test just to be sure...

My coworker's wife and the girlfriend come out to the car and the girlfriend says "I don't test well"

Seriously? I was ROFLMAO.  After a crappy day at work that was exactly what I needed, She apparently made the whole pregnancy up... and even gained a ton of weight and was faking ultrasound photos and posting them on her FB page... Seriously, I think that there are diagnoses for people like that.  Can we say ATTN:HO?

Often I find the plot lines to some of my favorite TV shows a little far fetched. But last week there was the post about someone who expected guests to bring the main course to a dinner party a la Parks and Rec, and now this is straight out of Glee! Insane.

CRAZY!!! I would be curious to see what she would have done when 9 months went by and NO babies were born. Was she going to tell everyone she had a m/c and then try and get sympathy or something?! WTF?

  • Idk, we were trying to decide if she was going to walk into a hospital and try to kidnap babies or what... Hello this is a con with a deadline... you have to produce babies or obviously you're a liar... Some people's children... they're trying to get her evaluated, and subsequently admitted...

    Yikes!

Getting back to meganinmaine, argh, what a rough week!  You need the weekend!  I can't imagine what your BFF is going through, but I bet knowing that her BFF Is by her side will be of help to her.

  • I snorted a little bit of Diet Dr. Pepper out of my nose at "I don't test well" so thanks for the chuckle. :)

She told him last night that she's leaving, and it seems like they have a good plan to move forward, so that's good.  It's tough 'cause she's in Virginia and I'm up here, but she knows I'll go there if she needs me, so I think she's in decent shape considering.
