Katy Trail 5k and wounded warrior 10K
Any local Dallas nesties running these races? The Katy Trail 5k is this Thursday and Wounded Warrior is June 12th.

I am not doing it this year but have done the Katy Trail a few times in the past, and it's a really fun race, especially with the picnic afterwards.

It's good to know that the picnic is nice. I hope they have some vegetarian options for me to choose from. It was a pretty steep entrance fee but I think it should be fun.
Was the race super crowded or could you actually run it?
I have done marathons of upto 40,000 runners so in comparison to that or even say a short race like the Race for Cure, this race is not nearly as crowded. The cap the entry at 5000 runners... so you won't have any problems.
That being said though, you want to run at a decent pace because the lines for the food can get pretty long the longer it takes you to finish. If you finish in approximately 30min or less, you should be fine. The last time, I "ran" the race with my husband(then BF), and he is not a runner so it took us 45 minutes to finish, and some of the lines were too long to wait in and some booths had already started running out of food.
There is a little bit of everything, so you should be able to find some vegetarian options.

Last year I did the Katy 5k and finished in about 32mins. Walked to the beer line and got one right away. I ran into some friends when I was walking away from it and we started talking. Within 5 minutes all the lines were going around us! It's fun but I'd say it's crowded just because most of the run is on narrow streets and you don't really have time to spread out.
I think I'm passing on the Katy run, but might sign up for the Warrior.
not related to the race, but to vegetarianism. have you tried out cosmic cafe, over on oak lawn yet? slowest service known to humanity, but wonderful food and atmosphere. and if you haven't tried spiral diner, in oak cliff, you are missing out on a life changing experience.
We've been to cosmic cafe and really like it. Spiral diner is next on our list. We are trying to stay as healthy as possible and have made a commitment to only eat out once a month each month this year so it's taking us a while to get to all the restaurants we want to try.
Are you coming to the get together Friday? It'd be nice to meet someone from our neck of the woods.
