WWYD?

I was just wondering where an order of mine from Amazon was so I logged on to track it. The tracking said it was delivered on Sunday (odd) and signed for by a random name ( "tohan").It was sent by some delivery service I have never heard of, so I'm not sure if they really do deliver on Sundays. There wasn't any pakage anywhere yesterday when I went to get our mail so I have no clue where it is or who this tohan person is. (that name isn't even close to any of our neigbors names)

I contacted Amazon and they are sending out a replacement. The order was only $30 but do you think I should report it to the police or not bother? We live on a high walking traffic street b/c we live right near a commuter rail station. We had some packages stolen off our porch by a passer-by a few winters ago so I wouldn't be surprised if someone walking by pretended they lived at our location when the truck pulled up (drivers never ask for ID). When we reported the items stolen the last time, the police said there wasn't much they could do about it but let us file the report so that we could attempt to get reimbursed.

Since we are already getting replacements sent, WWYD?

Re: WWYD?

  • Let it go.

Amazon is replacing the items... no harm, no foul.

If they had refused to send a replacement, then I would seek an alternative resolution.

  • I'd probably report it again. I would want it on record that this happened so that way if it continues no one can ever come back at you and say that you didn't report the others. I would also maybe start leaving shipping instructions when you order things to have the packages put in the back if no one if home (if that even possible at your house).

  • I'd let it go. If Amazon was giving you a hard time about replacing it, then I'd pursue it. Otherwise, I doubt the cops would even be able to do anything about it, so it'd be wasting everyone's time. KWIM?

ETA: I also live in a big apartment complex and it's for this reason that I have anything shipped to me at work. Don't know if you can do this in the future, but it's really the best solution for me. There's a note on the wall of the mailroom from one of my neighbors looking for a missing package like once a week.

  • I'd still report it. It will count toward the crime rate in the area and that's something I personally look in to before moving to a new area.

After the last time, I started to have stuff shipped to my parents' house but that becomes a PITA to constantly go there to pick everything up.

I agree about letting it go but I just don't know if maybe reporting it would mean they would keep a better eye on the area? Or if maybe other people have had the same thing happen to them recently? Doubt it, though. Some people have some nerve.

I was going to suggest this as well.  If not work, someone - family or friend - who has a house address as opposed to an apartment or condo in a complex.  My sister does this for the same reason - she doesn't trust a soul in her condo complex and ships everything to my parents' house.

  • For now don't bother reporting it. The cops in our area really don't care.

Recently I had a package that I saw on my stoop as I drove by and by the time I parked my car and went to the front door, it was gone. I was PIZZED.  It showed up about an hour later at my back door obviously tampered with. It was my CPAP mask and therefore not a very desireable item I guess.  But seriously within 5 min of me being home!  I wish I saw who it was.

Now everything comes to my office.

  • Ok, so I won't report it to the police ( will be a waste of time) but I just found the web-site for the carrier and filed a complaint with them. If they mis-delivered it, allowed some random person to take it or heck, if the driver took it, at least they will have it on file. I guess this is just the "Mamma Bear" in me coming out since these were items for my baby.

  • This actually happened to us on a laptop delivery from Fed Ex.

It was really stupid because eventually after about 3 weeks it ended up that the driver had signed for it and then just put it back on the truck, but since it showed delivered, FedEx were b!tches about it. We were really worried that someone had been at our house and signed for it. I made a big deal about it, even though they shipped us a replacement as well. I never reported it to the police, but only because FedEx finally told us what happened.

  • Also, check with your local post office. When I ordered my knitting needles from a seller on Amazon, it said it had been delivered, but I never received them. Then about 3 days later I got a little message in my mailbox from the PO saying there was postage due on the package and to come pick it up.

Apparently it was mislabeled, there was no postage due, but they couldn't leave it at my house for that reason. So, it may still be at the post office?

Hmmmm.....I could see that happening but the whole Sunday delivery is still making me scratch my head. I always use AmazonPrime ( 2 day delivery) and this is the first time they have ever used a carrier other than UPS or FedEx.

I think mine actually shipped USPS. It was a flat rate box or something.
But if Amazon is resending, then I wouldn't worry about it too much. Good luck on it actually arriving!

It is counted as theft, and depending how high the rate is, yes I'd skip a neighborhood with a high crime rate. We didn't check the first neighborhood we lived in and after $3,000 worth of J's tools were stolen from his locked toolbox on his truck we learned the crime rate was high in the neighborhood and it could have possibly been prevented. Matter of preference I guess.

Mrs. Mo- did your package ship through LaserShip?  I ordered something also for Sunday delivery and it was supposed to go through this company.  Lo and behold, today is Tuesday and it still isn't in my hands.  They're saying the package was refused.  How it was refused, I have no clue.

I'm super pissed because my ILs ordered my H's birthday presents through Amazon and those were magically delivered but somehow my book cannot be.

YES !!!! I honestly am thinking this company is very sketchy. I went on their site and tracked my package and sent them a message b!tching them out about how they allowed some random person to sign for it. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the driver just didn't want to be working on Mothers Day and signed for it him/herself or whatever. Amazon was very nice and is re-sending my stuff via FedEx ( thankfully NOT Lasership again !)
