rec make-up that's good in humidity

I'm looking for some new make-up... foundation, concealor, powder, or the like that holds up well in humidity.  I will be purchasing it for a wedding that I'm in, taking place in Costa Rica Memorial Day weekend.  It's going to HOT and humid.  I really dont want to look like a sweaty mess...  HELP :)  I figured you ladies live in humidity 6 months out of the year and might have some insight.  Thanks!

Oh and I typically just wear some concealor and some pressed powder but I'm willing to go outside of my box!

Re: rec make-up that's good in humidity

  • My favorite makeup (which I am always trying new foundation) is Mary Kay's Mineral powder.  Plus it's cheap, $14.

Texas is HOT.  Hotter than Florida in the summer and I have found this makeup is the best that I have tried so far.

  • Ditto bare minerals.  I also was in a wedding on the beach recently and the artist used MAC - it held up beautifully.

This!  It's the only thing that stays on without feeling like I'm wearing 5 layers of make up.

  • Another Bare Minerals user checking in.  I also love using Model in a Bottle to set my makeup.  It really helps everything stay in place better.
  • I also use Bare Minerals, BUT if you are worried about sweating etc, Make Up Forever (at sephora) is used on actresses etc and known to stay PUT.

I would go to Sephora and talk to the make up gurus about the two. I love BM bc it is light, but MUF might be better in high heat/sweat/good for pics at a wedding...

  • I also use Bare Minerals, but it really depends on your skin type.  I have just been too lazy to find something else. I have very oily skin and Bare Minerals is a little itchy on me in the summer, although with their primer its not as bad.  I do think mineral makeup is worth it in the long run though.
  • MAC Studio Fix powder foundation with a good primer. I use MAC primer, but smashbox is darn good too.
  • Thank for the recs so far ladies!  Unfortunately, I have used BM in the past and I am not a fan, so I will look into MAC and the others recommended.  Thanks again!

  • I agree with the Make Up Forever rec as well as Model in a Bottle.  I use Bare Minerals for every day, but mineral makeup is known for not photographing very well.  Just something to keep in mind. GL!

  • Definitely MAC - it's the only thing that holds up for me in the humidity.

I hate BM.  I used it forever but it made my pores look huge.  The Mary Kay mineral make up is finer and goes on smoother.

But I change my makeup like I change my underwear so who knows, tomorrow I may hate my Mary Kay makeup!
