OMG!! What should have been a straightforward bathroom remodel has turned into a frickin nightmare!! Once I got my allergies under control and I was sure I wasn't going to have a major asthma attack, I spent the morning downstairs cleaning out the basement and being attacked by super spiders. My H and FIL were upstairs continuing the bathroom demo. The next thing I know I hear all this yelling and H flying down the steps. Then I hear the sound of water gushing as it pours through the kitchen ceiling and the basement ceiling!!!!!!! I just stand there going oh sh*t!! As H hurdles over my garbage piles to turn off the main water supply to the house. Apparently just as my FIL disconnected the toilette a pipe in the wall that was rusted burst!
So now in addition to remodeling the bathroom they had to rip a wall out of the bathroom, replace all the pluming in the bathroom, and replace my kitchen ceiling. Not to mention that yesterday my FIL decided that we should just go ahead and redo the living room while we are at it!! My mom did come over and she helped me knock out the basement in no time. Luckily H's one uncle is pretty much a plumber (he is actually heating and AC). He is here now doing the plumbing. H's other uncle is coming over later this evening to resurface the wall in the living room. Thank god H's family is handy!! They are saving us a small fortune!!
Here are some pictures of the current state of destruction my house is in!!
This is what the bathroom looked like back in September.

The carpet was put down so we could still have access to the tub, but the is null and void at the moment.
Since I took this picture the bottom hole has been made even larger.
This is looking down the steps. There was wall paper on the wall. So glad its gone!!
What was my living room. The rest of the boarder is going to come down and the whole living room will be painted.
This was right after the great flood, before they started removing all the ceiling tiles.
The massive holes now in the ceiling. Thankfully the drop ceiling will hide all of this.
Re: Anniversary from hell!
I kind of am lol! I am going to stay at my ILs tonight. They have the inlaw apartment in their basement. That's where I stayed when I was first recovering from surgery. I have to work tomorrow so I HAVE to have a fully functioning bathroom in the morning. Plus all the dust from the construction is really reeking havoc on my asthma and allergies!!
Believe me it wasn't my idea to do 3 rooms at once!! Ill be so glad when its over. I'm actually super glad I am at work today. If H didnt have his appointment wit the urologist tomorrow AM I'd beg to work tomorrow too.
That sucks! I'm sorry!
If it makes you feel better we had water leaking from our balcony into our formal dining room (right below master) when we bought the house, got it fixed last summer when we moved in (Bank owned house) took them FOREVER to do.
Guess what? It didn't work because we had water that was somehow sitting in the ceiling in the formal dining room again. They just finished fixing it AGAIN, thankfully we didn't have to shell out the $ again since they basically had to re-do what we hired them to do last summer, they had a 1 year warranty!
