So I had my first appointment yesterday afternoon. I ended up not getting a dating u/s afterall, which was sort of a bummer. OB said she could tell how far along I was by feeling up my ute. Yep. I won't have my u/s until 18 to 20 weeks, so July sometime.
So my EDD is one day ahead of before, she put me at December 12th!
The babies heartbeat was at 180 beats per minute, so nice and strong!! ![]()
It was the most amazing sound I've ever heard. OB said that "180 is supposedly in the girl range.. but those wives tales are wrong 50% of the time *wink*"... I love my OB, she's super nice!
She said that we're both good and healthy, so H & I are planning on telling the family this weekend and I'll tell work next week.
ETA: I'm now the proud holder of a bottle of Zofran. I've only taken two half pills since yesterday, but I already feel SO much better!
Re: BR: 1st Appt.
Thanks! I was pretty bummed about not getting to see the baby, but hearing the HB was great too!
When is your first appointment?
Dx: Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism After 2 years TTC & failed IUs,we have our IVF baby born 9/24/11
LO#2 aka 'Miracle Baby' Orig. EDD= 9/28 EDD moved to 10/3/13

Hearing the heartbeat is the most amazing thing ins't it? The wait for your u/s is going to feel like forever, but maybe you can buy a doppler heart moniter and spoil yourself by hearing the heartbeat whenever you feel like you miss the baby.
I'm glad you love your OB, she sounds great. My u/s tech didn't even tell us the BPM, maybe the doctor said it when I drooling over hearing it... 180 is good! Glad to know you and Baby are doing great. Telling the family is such a fun part! We just finished telling everyone, so now it's kind of public knowledge which is weird since we've been hiding it for so long. Ooh and glad to know you are feeling better too. You only have a few more weeks until you'll start to see the bright light of 2nd tri coming your way!
YAY! Glad to hear everything went well!
My BFF has 2 kids and the heart rate wives tale proved true for both of them. So, I'm calling girl, now. haha
lol... I told H the day I got the BFP that I was feeling girl, so we'll see!
He's terrified at the thought of a daughter though.. he's like "what if she's like you were?" I'm like "gee, thanks dear..."
The world could definitely use another michelle! ;D

Glad everyone is healthy and that baby's heartbeat is nice and strong. Sorry about the no ultrasound though...I bet the baby has your wavy black lines
Do you have any cutsie way planned to tell your families about the baby or are you just gonna blurt it out?
probably just going to blurt it out.
| cute shoes make me happy |
probably not. I'd probably freak out if I wasn't able to find the hb.

Stand up for something you believe in.
Glad your appt went well. And I concur, Zofran is awesome.
Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
Are there any birthdays in your family coming up?
Or grandparents day?
Are there onesies that have anything to do with the memorial day, the start of summer, or whatever?
Those would be cute ideas on how to tell them! GL! :-)
Yay! I'm so glad to hear everything is going well!
That's a bummer about the u/s though! I had one at 5 and 9 weeks....it's strange to me that they're making you wait, but I guess every OB is different.

That's too bad about not getting the ultrasound and seeing the little peanut in there, but I'm glad baby's healthy!
And only having only one or two ultrasounds in pregnancy isn't a bad thing, really. There are studies out there indicating that more than that can change cellular development on some level, but it appears the jury's out on the real effects of that. Regardless, I actually requested the perinatologists not do extra ultrasounds each week (they wanted to) and just asked them to stick with a quick transvag cervical measurement. I've had 5 ultrasounds and that seemed like more than enough.
