  • oh, man! Where does she live? I just ask because my parents are in Upstate NY and they have quite the bear problems where they live. One broke into my brothers car (to get food that was left in there). One night my brother woke up to find a bear standing with it's paws pressed up on the sliding glass door.

They live in Lebanon NH! I've seen reports of bears in NH on the news... but didn't think they came this close! They're deck is probably 8x8 if that.
  • Oh my!!!!  That's really close!  I totally saw a bear, maybe 75 feet from me...when my dog and I were laying in the hammock two summers ago.  I swear I had a mini heart attack as I sprinted into the house.

  • Darn, he was a little too close for comfort!  I'll have to tell my sister about this - she just bought a place in Lebanon.
  • Yikes indeed! DH's Aunt had a bear in their backyard last year. Was pretty huge. Kept going after the bird feeder

  • You have no idea of my fear of bears. I have nightmares...BAD.

When I opened this I almost barfed.

  • Oh my! That would be frightening, especially the next time you have to go outside and don't know where Mr. Bear is...

A few years ago my DH's cousin was living in Alaska with his wife and daughter who was probably 2 at the time. He was doing biological research around the pipeline. One day the mom and daughter were out working in the garden, and little Willa started saying "Here kitty, kitty, here kitty, kitty...." When her mom looked up Willa was holding her hand out calling to a black bear in the driveway...they went inside pretty quickly!!

  • Oh my goodness. I think bears are cute and all but having one on the porch? Scary!!

When I worked at camp we had bears that liked to raid the dumpsters, which were right behind the kitchen. Since the kitchen was on the 2nd floor with only a small porch leading outside, they didn't usually bother us, but one night my buddy was taking the trash out and a bear came out and started following him up the steps. So scary!! He never moved that fast before or after in his life.

  • OMG I would poop myself.  Did he hang around long, or was he just stopping by?
