Komen 5k Sunday - R6 help
My family and I are doing the Komen 5k walk on Sunday for the first time. We are planning on taking the R6 from either Conshohocken or the Spring Mill stop.
Since there is supposed to be thousands of people who do this walk/run I wanted to get an idea about how crowded the trains are that morning. There is a train at 6am and 7am. I was hoping to take the 7am but I am afraid the train parking lot will be full and/or the train will be full.
All of my family is coming from out of town so I am in charge of getting everyone there. I just don't want to set us up for failure!! Thanks for any input!
Re: Komen 5k Sunday - R6 help
I have not run R4C, but in the event of any Philadelphia races, the earlier you arrive, the better (and it will be less stressful for you).
Take the 6am train. Consy has a fairly large parking lot.
There is earlier service, as per SEPTA's site: http://www.septa.org/media/releases/2011/04-29-11.html
Manayunk/Norristown Line: Added Train #6205 will depart Elm Street Station at 5:48 a.m., arriving Suburban Station at 6:34 a.m.
Another tip: I would buy fares in advance. Good luck! Are you running?
Thanks for the info and great tip to buy the fares in advance!
We are walking with a team of 60 people for a girl I went to high school with who has breast cancer. :-(
It was great - perfect weather! Everyone said it would be crowded but it was hard to imagine that many people...we were in a crowd the entire length of the walk. (see pic taken at the start - there were people as far as the eye could see ahead and behind)
Travel to and from was a breeze. We ended up taking the 7:00am train from Conshohocken to Suburban Station and had plenty of time to get to the start. The train was full but everyone had a seat and they did not charge us for the ride down or back. We went straight to the train after the walk and got on the 10:25 train with no issues.
