Favorite brunch spot in St Paul?

My husband's graudation is ceremony is this Saturday (yay!) and it should be over by noon, so we'd like to get some family together for brunch.

Any recommendations?

Re: Favorite brunch spot in St Paul?

  • We were just at the Good Day Cafe this Sunday and I love their food! I believe they were ranked in MSP Mag for best brunch spot. I love their crab cake benedict. We ordered their pancakes for dd on Sunday and they were the best pancakes I've ever tasted. It tasted like they had a hint of beer in them. They don't take reservations but you can call ahead. Call about an hour before you plan on getting there.

If you are looking for more of a buffet brunch, Jax's in NE Mpls is very good. When you make your reservation make sure to mention your husband's graduation and they'll make little personalized match books to celebrate and have them at each placesetting.

  • In St Paul, these are my faves:

    Louisiana Cafe (Selby & Dale)

Day by Day Cafe (7th just outside of DT to the west.  Fair warning, they only take CASH and are always pretty busy, so if you have a ton of people it will be close quarters)

Mickey's Diner (Downtown, total greasy spoon, very limited seating)

Whoops! Didn't see you were looking in St. Paul. The Lexington has a good brunch. I think it was Fabulous Ferns? that we've been to before in the Selby area and it was good.

  • My favorite place for brunch is Meritage in Downtown St. Paul.  If the weather is nice I like to have brunch at Salut on Grand Ave, since they have a decent patio.
  • If you're willing to drive a bit - the Lake Elmo Inn has a fabulous brunch.  I also love the Day by Day Cafe.  Their patio is lovely.
  • Cafe Late is great too!
  • Another vote for Day by Day Cafe!
  • I love Day by Day Cafe.  Summer is my favorite when we can eat in the garden.

WA Frost is really nice too.

  • We love Dixie's on Grand Ave. They have a good selection of food and desserts and all you can drink mimosa's.
