My poor baby...

...has to go to the doctor this afternoon.  His reflux has been fine for months.  He hasn't been spitting up even.  Well, the past 2 weeks he has been spitting up again.  He also has moments that he'll grab his chest and cry and then you will hear a gurgle sound and then he'll spit up.  When he pushes to go to the bathroom his spit up has been coming through his nose and he has been choking on it (used to happen when he was younger).  Worst of all, his lips have been randomly turning blue again.  My poor sweetie :(

  • Ugh! That's awful. I hope Weston feels better soon. Poor little guy!
  • Oh no :(  I hope he's able to get some help from this appointment!
  • Poor little guy!  If his lips are blue, maybe ask if you can have a portable oxygen saturation machine back home with you for when he's sleeping.

  • Aw sorry to hear that:( I hope he feels better soon!
  • Poor Weston. :-( I hope he gets to feeling better soon. I know throwing up through your nose is no fun at all. I can't imagine that combined with everything else. I agree with Mary. I'd be asking for a portable oxygen machine again.
  • Poor little dude.  I hope the doctor can get him on the mend soon. It must be so hard to see your child feeling so badly. :(

  • Thanks guys.  The appointment went well.  I really love are new pediatrician.  She listens well, is so nice and really interacts great with Weston.  So when she tells me all is well, I believer her :)

She said that for babies with reflux, it is normal for it to worsen again at this age.  She said that the weight of table food and the fact that he is moving around so much, puts pressure on his little stomach.  She feels like the grabbing of the chest is more of an bubble than acid.  Her explanation was that if it is acid, it would be more constant and not be relieved by the spit up coming out.

As far as his lips turning blue, she thinks it is unrelated.  Both times it happened correlated with him pooping.  When he bears down to push, she thinks he may sometimes hold his breath.

They did a pulse ox on him and it was 97%.  She said that was great.  Also, his lungs and heart sounded perfect.

We are just supposed to keep an eye on everything and call if he seems to be in pain with his spit ups or the blueness happens not during or right after a bowel movement.

Thanks again for your kind words!
