Should I go?

Im supposed to work today 3-930 and Im considering going in and telling her its not going to work out.

I discussed the first job with my boss and she wants to offer me 4-14 more hours, depending and I absolutely cannot work both jobs that way. Should I cut my losses now? Or stick it out until ...well IDK when.??

Re: Should I go?

  • How well can you depend on the hour increase with your first job? And how long until it starts?

  • I can definitely depend on an increase. Im getting one more half day, with potential to stay each day an extra 2 hrs. It may start this week, or next.

  • I would give it a week to see if things improve and to make sure that it doesn't mess with anything with your apartment.
  • I'm confused with which job you're referring to.

  • Dont just not show up. If you are going to quit do it the right way. Never burn bridges even the ugliest unstable ones!!

Agreed!  Go in there and tell them if you aren't going to work anymore and I would take it a step further and work the shift for the day, but tell them at the beginning that today will be your last day.

  • I think it is inappropriate to not give a full 2 weeks notice. It also looks very very bad on you to just not go in. It also will be a good opportunity to bank some serious cash when you are living alone in a city by yourself.

Oh in that case, quit the right way. I would agree, just not showing up is bad.

  • I'd definitely work a few more days until you figure out if you are really getting more hours at the first job. Not to be debbie downer here, but the reason you weren't approved at the townhouse the first time is b/c of lack of income right? Then when you got another job you were approved?

So technically according to them if you dropped the other job you couldn't afford the place even though you feel like you can? That's a scary situation to be in. That's like buying a house with current income and then dropping a job and not being able to make your payment.

Plus when your H moves there will be a period where he needs to get a job and you may want that extra income in your savings.

Agreed. And I don't know what it's like in OH but in CA if  you're still in your first 30 days at the job a 2 week notice isn't required.
