We went the first year and it was AWEsome. No lines, so far from crowded, lots of samples, all the Belgian beer glasses we could carry... I could go on, but it makes me too sad. We've avoided it since, b/c everything around here gets ruined after the 1st 1-2 years once everyone finds out about it. Anywhoooo...
I got tix this year because I feel like such a hypocrite, being a foodie and not going to a food fest. Saturday is sold out (holy crowds, Batman!), and Sunday still has tix. We opted for the no-wine tickets since I do not wait in line for wine (and the hubz doesn't drink). And they are cheaper so we won't be too irked if it's too crowded to enjoy. It's supposed to rain this weekend, so we're hoping that'll cut down on crowds.
Anyone going?
Re: Anyone braving the crowds at Food/Wine Fest (Nat'l Harbor)?
I'm going on Saturday.. a little nervous about the crowds! Any recommendations for transportation? We live in Alexandria and I'm trying to think of a way to avoid driving that won't cost a ton of money or be a huge pain.. so far I haven't come up with anything!

For $32 for two you can take the water taxi roundtrip. (Don't get me started on how it's not a taxi, it's a car-less ferry. A taxi takes you wherever you want to go, and doesn't charge $16pp.)
Parking in a garage will be $11 or less.
My preferred method for getting over there is by bike. Now, if it's raining, that might not be as fun. We park around Church & Columbus Sts and hop on the trail over the bridge.
