Does anyone have anything that they are really scared of? Mo's comment about the bridge this morning got me thinking.
Is your fear based in something you've experienced or just a generality?

Re: Poll: What Scares You?
I'm scared of foodborne diseases (like salmonella), so I am always super attentive about washing my hands when cooking. I think this stems from having had it as a baby, even though I have no memory of it.
I'm also somewhat of a germaphobe generally. I won't use a public drinking fountain or the blankets and pillows on an airplane. That being said, I'm not one of those people who carries around anti-bacterial solution and uses it every three seconds.
But you like rollercoasters, right? Would you ever go bungie jumping or sky diving?
I like rollercoasters, but I don't know if I could ever do bungie jumping or sky diving. I think that would make me have a heart attack.
This is a bit childish so I am giving you the ok to laugh. I am scared of the dark. I do not like walking outside after dark which is odd I live on a dead end road in the country. My only neighbors for 3 miles are family members. I fall asleep with the tv on, but cut the sleep on so it will cut off. I can not watch scary movies by myself or anything about people getting killed. DH laughs at me because I can't walk through our house without a light on. I always feel like someone is watching me or is going to walk up behind me and grab me like the scary movies.
Although I have always been afraid of the dark it use to not be as bas as it once was. When my daddy died for months everytime I closed my eyes I saw him during the last hour of his life. It was like I could hear the machines and him gasping for breath. I could see the look on his face and his eyes and mouth It was all so real. I am not like that anymore thanx to some therapy me and my sister did together. I do think I will always be alittle afraid of the dark.
crystalijkbj - no laughs from me.
I hate the dark when DH is OOT. I sleep with a light on in the hall. Not sure why it freaks me out now, maybe because I'm use to having someone else around and our bedrooms on the 3rd floor? I use to live by myself and never had a problem.
I hate water over my head. I love the beach, I love wading in the water, but after a few waves taking me out, I'm done. And yes, I can swim.
Now as an adult I hate reptiles. I hate snakes, lizards, newts anything with scales that is on land. What is really weird is as a kid I would play with lizards. I don't know when it changed but :::::shudders::: I hate them.
Eyebaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllls.
God forbid I ever need contacts because it's so not happening. Nuh-uh. Totally irrational fear, but what can ya do? We were watching Fringe once (back before it got ridiculous) and this dude's eyeball exploded. Out. Of. Nowhere.
I cried.

This is me as well. We live in a small apartment and it still freaks me out. I also can't sleep with the closet door open. When I was a kid if I had to use the restroom or get a drink I would always run to either the bathroom or kitchen and then sprint back to my bedroom and jump in my bed.
I once was house sitting and was staying at their house. There was a storm going on and it knocked one of the flower pots off of the back porch and it shattered on the ground below I had to call DH at work and have him check the house out because I was scared that someone had broken into the house downstairs. Between that and the raccoons running around on the metal roof I was really spooked.

Flying, but I do it anyway.
I love the dark - I can't sleep at all if there's even a hint of light on in the house. It's soooo annoying.

This is 100% me as well. I would always dream that this guy who used to live next door (he was challenged), loved his chickens, would talk to his garden, etc. and he would burn my house down. I love our fire pit, but if the fire gets to large, I freak out.
I already know I am either going to die in a house fire, or a bad car accident. (I know it is bad to think like that, but I truly think that is what is going to happen)
