I found out three weeks ago that I was temporarily suspended from the agency I contract for. Because there is an internal investigation, no one can really give me any answers, including my employer because they don't want my employer to influence the investigation. My employer feels that this is a case where someone complained about how I conducted my work, or if I even spoke with this person. And they've reviewed my work before sending it on to the other agency and did not find any issues, so my employer is not too concerned. Because there was a complaint and it was significant enough, I'm suspended. They expect this could get clearend up in the next month, but because I am a contractor it could take a year. Ugh. Currently I'm still being paid by my agency for the next six weeks. After that, depending if the investigation is still going on I may or may not get paid. I am not the type of person to sit still, so I'm looking for a part time position.
My question is, how much of this do I need to disclose to an HR? What other steps should I be considering? I know I can't apply for any positions that require a clearance, or relates to investigations, fraud, or personal information.
Any and all help is appreciated. TIA
Re: Supended-Need Help
This situation has never happened to me so take my advice with a grain of salt if you would but if I was in your position and was suspended with no detailed explanation, I'd get a lawyer.
I don't know the issue that's being investigated, but you want to make sure it's investigated correctly so it wouldn't affect your future job searches/opportunities.
good luck!
Thanks. I'm told it's an "integrity" thing.
I'm told this is the nature of the job, and even the best in my position can possibly be suspended without notice for the same reason. And it was the agency I contract for which suspended me. I've only had one complaint with a bunch of positive feedback. My employer is just as confused as I am on this whole thing. My evals and reviews are above standard, and I was recently promoted. I have talked to a lawyer who has given me the best and worse case scenarios. He's worked with several other contractors in the same field and comes highly recommended.
