Words with Wednesday

I thought it was Thursday right up until I got on the train. But nooooooo. It's Wednesday! Blargh. That was a rude awakening.

I was productive last night. I made PDub's lasagna, switched over my summer and winter clothes, purged a huge bag of clothes, packed lunch and gym bag, and cleaned the kitchen. I watched 90210 and Gossip Girl on DVR and painted my nails. I read in bed for a bit and was passed out around 11:30.

I got up a few minutes earlier today and it was so nice not to be timed to the minute to be out the door. I should do that every morning. Pipe dream?

Zumbaaaaaaaaa today. I love zumba days.

Relay team and committee meetings tonight. I won't get home until 9 at the earliest.

  • Welcome back!

I woke up with a headache.  And then just as we're about to leave the house, DH notices our kitchen lights are still on - even though the switch is off.  He flips the circuit breakers, but that doesn't do anything.  At this point we're going to miss our train and he can't decide what to do.  Thankfully, he left his keys upstairs and when he went to get them, noticed an odd smell.  I go upstairs and realize the bathroom smells a bit like smoke.  At which point, we shut down all the circuits and call an electrician.  DH dropped me off at the train station and then went back to wait.  The electrician is currently there and apparently has a very confused look on his face.  In all honesty, we should've expected something like this - when we got the house inspected, a lot of outlets weren't properly grounded.  The original homeowner (foreclosure) either hired an idiot, or tried to do the work himself.  And now we're going to have to fix it.

As if the month of May didn't strain our bank accounts enough.  Oh yeah, and work keeps piling stuff on my desk.  Like I wasn't already busy enough.

Xtine - Sending you no throw up sparklERs today!

  • So far, it's at least $400.  DH doesn't sound hopeful because the guy looks so perplexed.  He thinks it's going to be a lot more. Tongue Tied

  • Em- Thank gosh your H went back upstairs. That could have been bad. Hope it's not an expensive repair. (fingers crossed)

Yesterday, I did nothing but go to dinner with my bestie and since I had not put on any makeup the whole day I went to dinner with no makeup on. hehe Yesterday our kitchen sink wouldn't turn off even when pulled down (off position) it would still have a skinny steady stream of water coming out. So anyways I called maintanence and they were there like 5 minutes later and fixed it. It actually took him a while about 15-20 minutes. Last night I planned to read for only 20 minutes and stayed up reading for 1 hour.

Today I plan to do nothing but clean the toilet and shower in our master bathroom and watch TV.

  • eMiLee - Ouch! Hopefully it won't be much more than that.

Xtine - Sending good vibes your way for no more throwing up

Last night I came home and crashed on the couch and woke up 2 hours later. Oops. Then we decided to go out to eat and I got tilapia, sweet potato and a salad and then we went to Academy and I found a new gym outfit and some new (purple)shoes! I was stoked. Then we went grocery shopping.

I had a meeting this morning which the teacher was so unprepared for...that just gets under my skin. Why even come to a meeting with NOTHING? Anywho...It's a 3 day party for my speech kids so they'll be enjoying cake, chips, popcorn, juice and games. Happy end of the year!!

  • Electric update - They had to open up our kitchen ceiling.  And the guy found a bunch of exposed wires! He's going to be there several hours, and it's now looking like around $1k.  Yay! (again wishing there was a sarcasm font).

I'm really glad DH forgot his keys.  It could have sucked so much worse.

Xtine - I hope you don't throw up today either.

awwww, that totally sucks!  But just keeping thinking positive- hard to do in this situation- but like you said it could have been a lot worse, and ended up costing a lot more....

  • I don't know why but I've been tired the past couple of mornings.  I'm getting 8 hours of sleep but I find that I'm still tired.  I hope today goes by really fast.  We have a meeting in a few hours and I think it's not going to go so well because of angry boss...ugh.

Yesterday we went to the Dollar Tree and found a ton of luau party stuff for Rich's 30th.  Originally I wanted to do 80's theme but he chickened out and wanted to do luau instead.  It's his party so he gets what he wants.  So far I've spent $27 on decorations compared to the $150 I had originally budgeted for.  I really like the Dollar Tree.

Not much planned for tonight.  I really need to wash whites because I have no clean white camis.  Rich didn't have clean socks so I just bought him a pack instead of washing Embarrassed

  • It's another work day for me. I think I will be working a total of about 50 hours all together this week now. yay.

hoping your electric issue isn't going to be as crappy as our lightning strike ended up being. $281 for the first problem with our furnace and $315 for the second one. Do you guys have homeowners ins to make a claim to help with the cost? Our deductible is $500 so if we make a claim it is only going to give us back about $100. yay emergency credit card. not really. ETA: Sorry, was writing my book of a post while you updated. YIKES! really hoping you have some insurance to help out now...

Last night for me involved going to get pizza for the guys/me since H is still trying to get his bike on the road to save on gas prices, then finally home at 7ish. My poor doggies holding it all day long... :( Did a few straggling dishes and started the dishwasher, ran a load of laundry, and sat on my butt watching Glee. H got home around 9:30ish and we went to bed about 11.

This morning I hung up the load of laundry on the line outside before leaving, and when I get home tonight I NEED to vacuum or be engulfed by the dog hair that is my living room. It's a beautiful day and I just want to do something outside. Stuck in a classroom (at least it has a window today) til at least 3:30. *sigh*

  • All last night I thought today was going to be Thursday.  Apparently that's going around!

It's a beautiful day, and my co-workers and I are planning on going out for lunch and sitting outside somewhere.  I am trying not to eat out for lunch so often, but I have been really good about it so as long as I pick something healthy I think it's ok.  I did bring delicious leftovers today, but they can wait until tomorrow!

  • Woke up with a killer sinus headache this morning which puts a damper on the day. I was supposed to go "work" with DH where he is going to meet some of the Packers players and the GM. Instead I am redoing my manicure, drinking some coffee, and then I am going to go work in the garden (tilling and planting). I should really cut our grass too.

Tonight I am going to our church's mother daughter banquet with my mom, grandma, aunts, sisters, cousins, nieces, and MIL. It should be interesting. I am really looking forward to it though because my aunt who has been battling cancer for the last  1.5 years surprised my grandma and came home to visit. She missed our wedding because of her chemo treatments so I plan on overwhelming her with pictures. :)

    Fourth Anniversary

    Morning, ladies.

I'm actually at work today, and feeling better and better as I go.  Got some Gatorade on my way in, and I think it's helping.  I'm actually eating oatmeal right now!  (And yes, it's sad that this makes me excited.)

Xtine, I hope you feel better soon!  Mine definitely comes in waves.  Makes it hard to plan, like can I really make it to SF this Saturday for brunch?  Eep.

Emilee, yikes!  I'd be glad H forgot his keys too, because who knows what could have happened.  This is making me email MH about our vents - they apparently need to be cleaned out, and we need to call someone about that.  The one in the kitchen has some kind of black stuff on it, which is scary.  Ours was also a foreclosure, and the lady just didn't really take care of it.  Our home inspector said the vents still had construction dust in them, 5+ years later.

And YAY, look who's a LIME?!?  I'm so excited.  We have our first ultrasound and opportunity to hear the heartbeat tomorrow.

  • Morning all, cant' seem to get to the board "on time" anymore for the daily post, so I've been lurking away :(

Em-sorry about the electricity issues.  do you have insurance?

Deb-LOVE the dollar tree for party supplies.  I also noticed tons of luau stuff when I was there looking for cowboy gear.  Hoping to have a luau as our "housewarming party" theme

Xtine-keep downing those Sour Patches if it's helping!

Dropped DH off at the airport this morning.  He's going to Sin City on the annual guys trip.  So sad, especially since we woke up to SNOW!  Oh yeah, yesterday I wore shorts and flip flops, today, in a sweater.  No wonder I'm sick.

Last night went swimming and running and I was dead tired.  Training is starting to take it's toll, especially w/ not feeling well.  Nothing else interesting except packing up shiz.  Goodwill loves us.  4 trips so far and more piles a-coming.  Really wish we had time for a garage sale, we would have made out like bandits!

  • SNOW? Oh hell no. It's May 11!

eMilee, I am so so so glad your husband went back inside.

EmilyAnn, purple sneakers or shoes? I want to see them.

    MushE yay for a lime!

I too love the Dollar Store for decor.

Hi to you ladies I missed, jedaniel, laura, excitedbride, tbears, who else?

I am still sweating from zumba, I think my brain is sweating too.

Snow, to rain, back to snow, then hail, now it's snow again.  Happy May!

  • mush - Yay lime!

brew - snow in May = the suck.  And yes, we have homeowners insurance.  DH said he will look into whether it's covered.

And update, the electrician found MORE stuff.  So the cost went up again.  And since the living room has similar lighting, we're going to have to get them to come back for that (and not EVER turn on the lights there until they do).

OMG, that sucks, and I'm sorry!  Hopefully you'll be able to get it all straightened out now, so it doesn't crop up in later years, when you're maybe not as able to deal with it.  I know that's why I want to do our flooring now, before we have child care (eep!) expenses.

  • Em~ if your insurance does cover it (don't know how other states ins works) make sure if you do it in one shot. Deductibles only cover one incident so doing the kitchen now and the living room in 2 months would be 2 different claims and 2 different deductibles.

Boo on the puking and yay for the not puking.

Brew~your CO weather is like ours. We had  2 1/2 inches of rain yesterday and Monday combined and today it's 75. It could snow tomorrow.

    Hey everybody else!
