so my impatient little man decided to come on april 30th, at 36 weeks and 6 days- so not a preemie but tiny. Joseph Leo IV, 4lbs 12oz and 18.5 inches.
long and short of it- he wasn't moving much if at all on thurs 4/28, i called the doc after trying all of the tricks and headed to the hospital. after failing a biophysical profile in spectacular fashion- we were told we weren't leaving the hospital without an outside baby. ummmm, what!?!? so they tried to induce me thurs night, friday, friday night and saturday. around 130p on saturday, after no progress, we did a c-section and out came the little man at 4lbs 12oz. there was no better feeling than when dh got to tell me it was a boy. he had a week in the nicu for his body temp and now he is home and absolutely perfect. sleeps a ton and eats even more- he gained over 0.5lb from our friday discharge to the monday doc appt. i have had a super easy csection recovery (and my ob did a rotation in plastics so i am hoping for the best scar-wise, he didn't indulge my request for a tummy tuck) and breast feeding is going really well.
note to the preggos out there- if the baby isn't moving you NEED TO CALL. apparently, there are much worse outcomes than the one i had. it was the only thing that my doc stressed to me after delivery. No word on why he stopped growing and needed to come out early but they are assuming it has to do with my clotting issues and are doing lots and lots of follow up. We shall see.....

they gave me 10 mins off monitors before starting pitocin on saturday morning so i was able to hop in the shower.... i'm sure that helped.

Oliver was born at 36 weeks too - he's still a premie (just a late-pre-term baby, I think that's the official term).
