montessori schools (sorry for another baby post)
Anyone familiar with Montessori teaching? We are desperately trying to find a good daycare/school for Oliver for when we move to Ardmore in June. We looked at two Montessori schools that seemed pretty nice (specifically Lane Montessori). We're also looking at traditional schools/daycares too since these Montessori schools don't accept kids until 18 mo, so we'd need a daycare in the interim.
Anyone have experience with this type of school, and how kids do once they're in public school when they reach kindergarden?

Re: montessori schools (sorry for another baby post)
i almost went back to school to become a montessori certified teacher but didn't. i really love the montessori way however i am stickler for accreditations aka you want to make sure you are actually paying for a montessori education.
there are a lot of books written about getting a child prepared for teacher focused school as opposed to child led. I know many montessori schools that know children will be going to teacher led programs try to prepare kids.
It's on Pine Road by Alburger if it's the same one I'm thinking of.
I've been meaning to ask my coworker about her son's daycare and finally did. He goes to the Kindercare in Bryn Mawr: http://www.kindercare.com/our-centers/center-details/000096/.
She absolutely loves it, and did a lot of research when deciding, for what it's worth.
Thank you! I've heard really good things about Kindercare. I think it depends on location, but thanks for the rec!!
Yeah, she definitely mentioned that this one was much better than the other location she checked out. Don't remember which one that was, unfortunately.
My friend is the director of Kinder Care in KOP. They are a good center, they have so many regulations to follow that the kids are in really good care. If a teacher messes up and does something they're not supposed to, they're out immediately. That said, it is a bit pricey, but they do a lot with the kids.
i'm guessing you mean the teaching methods? this may explain: http://www.michaelolaf.net/FAQMontessori.html

What we really like for the younger kids, is they teach the phonetic sounds of the alphabet instead of the "ABCs." DH learned the alphabet this way in the UK and he really thinks it helps kids to learn to read. He is a HS teacher and many of the non-English speaking students have a hard time sounding out words b/c they were taught ABCs instead of "Aaa, Baa, Caa." I don't know if that makes sense or not...
