Questions to ask someone I'm interviewing
I have 3 interviews set up tomorrow with candidates that, if selected, would be my boss. I've done interviews before where I would be the person's boss, but never where the person would be my boss.
What types of questions should I ask them? The only one I've come up with so far is "What have you done in your prior management experience to help develop your associates?"
I'm struggling to come up with other questions. TIA...
Re: Questions to ask someone I'm interviewing
You are responsible for hiring your boss? That seems... backwards?
I suppose I would make sure I asked some questions about their management style and approach to issues with subordinates.
I thought so too, but I am not the only person interviewing them - there are 4 other people (nigher up than me). The HR person told me that its actually a great thing that I'm interviewing because then I can really get a feel for the person and give input on the one that I would most like to work with.
Thanks to you both for your thoughts and suggestions - I will be able to develop some questions based off of them
Situational questions ("describe a time where X happened, and how you handled it")
What is your management style?
Have you managed people before? How many and for how long?
