s/o glasses (vision)

Both of my parents wear glasses or contacts now as does my big brother. I do not. Is this something hereditary that will eventually happen? Is there a method to the madness or is it just hit or miss/chance?

I am always amazed with people who can maneuver contacts or put up with glasses. I get easily annoyed with sunglasses. Yikes.

Every single person in my family has glasses. My brother and I were the last to get them...he was 26 when he finally realized he couldn't see. Went for headaches and during the eye exam he realized some of the things they showed him looked a lot crisper and better than ever! We both have weak prescriptions, but wow, when I take off my glasses now I feel blind! I believe everyone else in my family is blind...they have horrible eyes. So, it can take a while to come on, or maybe you are lucking out :-)

I think it's just taking awhile to come on, you're probably right! I just can't imagine putting in a contact... even fishing out an eyelash is weird, hahaha.

I'm supposed to wear contacts or glasses-but go without. I really think my eyes are adjusting-or I'm getting used to blurry vision ;-)

My parents both have/had glasses and HORRIBLE vision, but only two of us six kids wear glasses. And my siblings are all in their 40s and 50s so I have hope I can go at least that long without. I had my eyes checked a year ago and the doc told me that I don't have perfect vision, but even the little cheapy readers at WalMart would probably be too strong a prescription.

I thought this too! Because when I was 13/14 I tried contacts and my former eye doctor's office, the nurse, had fake nails, she ended up scraching my eye, putting them in. SO I just wore glasses, well when my, now hubs and I got engaged, I did NOT want glasses in my wedding pictures, so like a month before we got married I got contacts. The place where I go now, was like just do it... and made ME do it. I LOVE my contacts! They make life SO much easier! And now I can buy cute cheep shade and be happy!

Plus one time, while boating, I turned to look at my mom, and there was enough of a cross wind that they were blown off my face... that was an UN FUN weekend!

My entire extended family wears glasses or contacts. I've had mine since 2nd grade and I really don't know any differently. I think it's weird that people can just wake up and see clearly in the morning!

But, I will say I could never go back to wearing glasses full time. I love my contacts!

Have you had an eye exam? My parents both wear glasses (all of my siblings are younger), but I thought my vision was okay. Last year, I started to notice I couldn't see things quite as well, so I went and had an eye exam. While I have almost perfect vision, wearing contacts/glasses make everything much more clear.

I hate wearing glasses, but I have an awful time getting my contacts in. So, I don't wear them as often as I should. Oops. Wink

I'm used to them now - I've had them since I was 12...the only thing I hate is when I wear my glasses and it ends up being sunny and I cannot wear my sunglasses. I really hope B gets my teeth (never had braces) and DH's eyes (no glasses). DH laughs at me because my clock radio is one of those with the 4 inch numbers that sits about 3 inches from my side of the bed. Geeked
