I got a jury duty summons in the mail today. It gives me the option to opt out because I am an expectant mother. How was it when you went? Can you tell me about it? Trying to decide if I'm going to opt out or not.

Re: *LB*
I would absolutely not opt out unless I was physically unable to go. My best guess is that expectant mothers exception is for women well into their third trimesters who might go into labor during the trial. Chances of you actually getting selected from all of those people are slim. Chances of you getting selected for a trial that will last longer than five or six months? Uhh... slim to absolutely none. And if you do get to the selection and find out it's some Casey Anthony shiz that might last longer than the rest of your pregnancy, you can voice your concerns during selection.
Jury duty blows, but it's our civic duty. Opting out one of the few times in your life you might get selected just because you have the option seems like a cop out TBH.
As far as my experience, it was long and crowded. I got there, waited, got herded into another room, waited, praised myself on how good looking and smart I am compared to the rest of the population of Jax, waited, went into the courtroom, waited, got asked some questions, answered honestly, didn't get selected, drove home, had a post-jury duty cocktail. Home a few hours earlier than I would have been if I had been at work.
I thought the same thing. Just, work wise, it couldn't have come at a worse time. Taking 1 day off of work right now will put me so behind. If, by chance, I actually got selected, I don't want to even think about how backed up I'll be. I'm sure I'll go. I just wanted to see what your experience was.
This is why I
you
lol
LOL. She's not joking though. It can get a little scary at these things. It's a great ego boost.
Sikes, it's not that bad. I actually got to go home at 1:00 because both of my cases accepted plea bargains. I DID get selected for a case in Tallahassee, but I was excused because my house had just flooded in tropical storm Allison & I had a huge mess to clean up at home.
That's good to know. I hope I get something like that. While I'm not going to go into labor anytime soon, I do need to eat and pee more than usual. LOL.
