when I vacuum...

I dont feel like the carpet is as clean as it could be.  I feel like it doesnt feel as "fresh" as it should. Ive tried baking soda and carpet deotorizer. Does anyone else have any ideas?

We do plan on ripping the carpet up, but for now i have to deal with it. :(

Re: when I vacuum...

  • Have you shampooed it? You can rent one for like $20 a day or something close. Or even get a company to come out and do it for you, not sure of that cost. I own one, and I shampoo at least 3-4 times a year.

  • This may sound stupid, but have you checked/changed the filter and the bag lately?

My vacuum looses its oomph when those 2 things need attention. Also, see if you can open it up a bit and dust it out.

other than that, I would also recommend shampooing the carpets.

  • After buying a carpet cleaner for like $158 at costco I've never hired a carpet cleaner again. They never did a good job anyway.
  • Has this always been the case with your vacuum? It could be the brand or style. Also, the rollers may need to be cleaned out which get clogged up with hair and string. Ours loses suction and this is usually what the problem is.
