Re: Wedding
I ended up with two different dresses. The dress on the left was the original dress I had selected. I mailed it to the girl on the right, and the dress was stolen off her porch, so she had to go get a different dress at the last minute. I forget the designer of the original dress, but the one on the right was from David's bridal.
Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
I told them the color and short dresses and they were able to pick out their own. However, I did pick out my MOH's dress since I really wanted it to be white and green to stand out more(made sure she liked it though).
My BM's wore champagne gowns with black sashes by Vera Wang. I bought the brooches seperately and we added them to the tied sash. The dresses had slight trains and I think that made them extra elegant:) I really loveeee the dresses to this day....in fact I keep telling my sister I'm going to steal hers and wear it somewhere fancy...some day;)

My girls each picked their own style and I don't have a great picture that shows them all. The color was called crimson, and it was sort of corally-red IRL. Here's a decent shot:
They even looked good on one of our groomsmen!

My girls wore a strapless navy blue gown by JS Boutique from Nordstroms. I purchased brooches for the girls to jazz up the dresses. I loved these dresses! They were only $99, too!
Mine were brown, short and from Alfred Angelo. I thought they were going to be brown and have cream piping & bow under the boobs, but they came in all brown instead. Oh well, I liked them anyway.
The dresses were exactly what I wanted and were from David's so they weren't super expensive. I knew I didn't want strapless since I had some busty bridesmaids and I wanted a darker color so that it would be flattering on everyone and would really make the multi-colored bouquets I wanted pop. All the girls liked the dress and a couple have worn theirs since to other events, yay!
I was on the fence about letting the girls pick out their own dresses, but after I found this online and showed it to them, they all agreed on it right away and solved my problem for me.
I really liked the dresses, and they looked really good on everyone. The color is cherry and they are made by Alfred Angelo.

And a stock photo for detailing. My MOH was the only one who didn't have the train hemmed off:

my MOH and i picked them out and we got them at DB. They were part of the LBD collection, not actual BM dresses.
I had a really hard time with bridesmaid dresses because I needed them to fit everything from a size 2 to a size 26.
So, I found these, and I thought they were pretty good.
close up of tops:
These dresses were oddly enough super comfortable- my sister compared hers to a nightgown, and several of them have been worn again. One of the girls even cut hers off to knee length and dyed it black!
Stand up for something you believe in.
I let them pick a style from DB in apple. It just worked out that the MOH was the only strapless.
I absolutely loved my BM dresses, I actually wish i would have bought one for myself for the price we got them for. There was only one of my BMs who the dress didn't look super amazing on, and I think that's more because whoever did her alterations didn't do a very good job. Oh well, I still think my girls looked pretty amazing. From JCrew, on sale for $79. I know for sure that my sister and one of my BMs have worn it again to dressier weddings and Christmas parties.
Ugh, BM dresses were a pain! I only had two female BMs, so you would have thought that it would be easy but nope. My goal was to let them pick the style, but the color and material of the dresses had to be the same which meant that the dresses had to be from the same brand.
One of them was really picky and always had comments about the ones I wanted. I wanted to be nice and let them have a say in it so I showed her a bunch of styles but she didn't like any of them. In the end, I offered to pay for the dresses and picked these out from looking online which turned out to be a bad idea because the dresses actually had boning in them that was uncomfortable.
My other BM was my brother and he was easy to shop for since all he needed was a tie. But as you can see, he doesn't quite know how to wear a suit or tie.
I never got to experience dress (mine or my BMs) shopping with either of my BMs so that was a major bummer and something I wish turned out differently. I probably shouldn't have had BMs but I didn't want to feel like a loser when Patrick had his GMs.
Ours were eggplant dresses by Bari Jay. They were all the same. I'm a bridezilla like that.
Ours were Wine full-length dresses with Ivory detail by Alfred Angelo. I had the girls decide with my final approval, and they all loved this one. The only difference between them was my sister, as MOH, had a sweet train while the others had their dress hemmed to the ankles.

I can only easily access a candid, but you get the idea. Navy blue, kind of a silk taffetta material, very similar to my dress. They had a nice "sheen" and a light feel for the beach theme. I thought they looked great on everyone, and they all said they were pretty comfy. There was also a bow in back which I was ambivalent about, but we decided to leave on there.
I gave my girls an option to wear whatever black dress they wanted and they all decided to wear the same one...
I dont have a good picture of the back but it had a sash that didnt tie and it just flowed down the back. I loved the dresses and so did the girls. I almost bought one myself for myself. I thought they fit the wide variety of girls I had in my party very well.
