The house next to us after 6 years on the market sold...and they are renting it out. the new people moved in maybe a month ago. It's a girl and a guy they are just friends. H and I met the girl one night briefly but have not met the guy. they clearly do not work 8-5 jobs, I think he works in retail-not a big deal but it's part of the story!
at about 2:45 am after a night of not sleeping b/c of a freaked out dog I moved to the couch to try to let H sleep. I started to hear banging on our front porch and on our mailbox...H heard it too and came out to the family room. the dogs (We are watching our other neigbs dog) didn't really freak out but were startled. then there was a knock (bang) on the door, H turned the light on and opened the door (PIZZZZED) the guy was WASTED and said "Hi Chris, I am Brandon (which is not even his name according to the girl) and I really wanted to meet you" H was like "what's wrong man we were sleeping (the house was DARK!)" the kid was like "oh really, well I just wanted to say hi" H was like "get the Eff off of our porch and don't ever do this again, we have jobs and wake up early man, I'm serious go the eff home".
the guy totally stumbled home and we watched from a window as he walked back next door and into the house where they were all drinking.
sorry this is a totally long random story, but H is going over there at a normal time to tell him to never do that again, what would you guys do? I don't think we can just let it go and be weird, and he needs to know you can't just stumble to someone's house at 3. if we would have called the police he would have gotten a public intox. H is worried he will do this again when I am home alone
Re: WTF new Neighbors!
Can you get a hold of the actual owners? I would complain to them that is ridiculous. It's not like they were having a loud party at 2 AM he knocked on your door waking up you entire household. WTF are they 12 and playing a game of truth or dare?
OMG, I would have killed someone.
I would send H over there to explain that it wasn't cool and to NEVER do that again. I wouldn't be mean persay, but stern enough to know that you are serious. Hopefully this is just a one time occurance.

I would have H talk to them, and then see what happens. It may just be a one time stupid move on that kids part.
Just stress that it is unacceptable for him to do that again.
Do you know the owners of the home? Or have their contact info? Maybe the city can provide it for you.
This, and my DH would have probably called the cops. Your story started to sound like a scary movie, with the banging on things, and then your front door! I'm sorry you had to go through that. It'd scare the crap out of me!
WOW!
Seriously, I would have H has a serious discussion with this guy (when he's sober). That is not cool. Not sure when that is cool. I would have H explicitly state that this is his way of trying to be cool and handle things outside of calling the cops. That him coming over at any time later than X is unacceptable unless it is a serious life-threatening emergency. If it happens again, you will be forced to call the cops.
I would throw water balloons.
And I ain't scurrrred of the Ginger Fury
I was totally scared!!!!! If I would have been home alone I would have called 911. I think it's important to be good neighbors, like what if something was literally wrong with him, you hear those kind of stories-that something happens and a neighbor runs to the house next door to get help, so H opened the door, but WTF man he wanted to come meet us at 3 am!
You and my ginger husband are an equal match I would say!
Yeah, not cool at all. I would see how it goes when your DH talks to him. Hopefully he feels like an asss.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhh.... evil jsmo2, I like.
hahah we were talking about this, but at 6 am when we wake up! I doubt they even went to bed until 4 am or so.
Want me to swing by at 5:30 on my way to work?
If it happens again, DO call the police. We had a situation for quite some time with some crazy white trash neighbors who were renters. They were the scourge of the neighborhood. The landlord finally started asking us to call the police when there were problems so that he had it documented on authority that there were issues (and dear lord were there ever!). He needed the documentation to help evict them.
I like Katie's suggestion!!!
I would walk over there and talk to them, then if it happens again, start calling the cops and notify the landlords.
good idea! I'm gonna try it today
