Has Secret Agent Man's birthday passed, or is that still in planning? If it passed (and I feel like I should know this!) how did the month of awesome go?
My DH's 40th is going to be in August so I'm starting to plan gifts and whatnot.. my idea is a big gift for every decade that is relevant to his life - haven't quite come up with a "10's" but I've got teens, twenties and mayyybe 30's down. NO idea on what to do for 40's! Will take suggestions :P

Oh, ha ha, the month of awesome! I decided to save that for another birthday when I had more time to prepare--his birthday is early March, and I had the idea in. . .mid-February?
Instead, I threw him a surprise brunch. He loved it, and his few awesome gifts. (Incidentally, one of the gifts I gave him was a "membership" at one of the sports massage places you recommended--he'd gone there a couple of times, and it's really helpful for him. Thank you again for that rec!)
I love the idea of the big gift for every decade idea! I know the 40th wedding anniversary gift is ruby, and a website I looked at suggested a Russian trip as a modern equivalent. In case that's not in your budget, some other ideas:
- One of my friends gathered 40 photos and personal messages from 40 of her husband's friends/family members and had them printed in a book (like from shutterfly or a place like that). Like, his mom wrote out the story of the day he was born, his best elementary school pal sent a photo and a story, etc. It looks like a coffee table book, and it's really cool.
- This may be weird, but I know y'all love participating in sports. Are there any races around his birthday? I wonder if you could sweet talk the event organizers into letting him start the race or something? Oh! How about this: organize your own 40-yard dash event! A 40 mile bike ride? A "40" themed tri where one of the activities is chugging a 40? A sports-o-rama with 40 events?
I will keep brainstorming.

Haha.. see, I knew I asked the right person! All of those are super duper awesome ideas. I especially love the chugging a 40 bit. Hahah, I can just see myself handing him a 40 of mad-dog 20/20 (appropriate.. sum of 40).
The album idea is fantastic as well.. and I have enough time to ferret out his friends' email addresses to start asking for that kind of thing. Hmm. I kind of wonder if I'd get a good response, though, I've really only met three of his close friends. I could probably get the ones I have met and his brother in on it to help push for that.
I would LOVE a Russian trip. Haha, when am i turning 40? :P
