Herbs

Now that I have an herb garden, I need to dry my herbs so they don't go to waste.

So, how does one go about this?

  • What herbs have you planted? I was literally getting on to ask what local herb planter were planting because I would like to start my own herb garden.

  • If you wanted, you could also freeze them in ice cube trays with some water and thaw a little bit at a time as needed. I have NO clue how to dry! :-)
  • What herbs did you plant?

I know my mom dries her bay leaves by hanging them upside down from a beam in the attic.  Maybe try that?

My herb garden has basil, parsley and thyme.  The basil lasts most of the year until it starts getting cold out.  Just make sure when to pinch off the flowers from the tops before they bloom.  My parsley and thyme both survived through the winter and are thriving so I don't worry about them, I just go pick some as needed.

I'm SO excited about my tomatoes and eggplant this year.  We have TONS on the vines.  We also have a fair amount of peaches and one little plum.  Yay for fruitful gardening!

    Congrats on graduation!!

  • MrShoe is on his way to my office with lunch so I'll ask him and report back.

We plant basil, parsley and green onions all the time.  We also have a bay leaf tree and we did have some thyme and a rosemary plant but they died. :(

MrShoe had some strawberry plants that he put in our garden just to see what happened.  Y'all.  They grow strawberries.  Like, really, really good ones.  N gets so excited when we get home.  She runs and climbs into the garden to pick anything that is even remotely red.  So flipping cute.
