painful taste buds?

I have a couple of different sore spots -- like inflamed/sore taste buds -- on my tongue, and they are driving me crazy. At first I thought I had accidentally bitten my tongue in my sleep or something, but now I'm pretty sure that's not it. They've been there for nearly 3 weeks now Sad

Any of you ever experience this?

Think I should just go to the doctor or dentist..?

I know what you are talking about. Normally mine goes away in a couple of days though so I've never seen anyone about it. I'd probably say the dentist, but maybe you could talk to one over the phone first to make sure.

I have an allergy to artificial cinnamon and that's what happens if something I eat contains the fake stuff. I get sores on my tongue and sometimes all the way down my throat. Have you eaten anything different?

This. When i was little i used to get sores on my tongue from too much ketchup bc of the acidity. My dr recommended the cough drops made with a certain ingredient to heal the sores. I can't remember what it is now! Anyway if they are really bothering you I'd see a dr or you could webmd it for at home remedies. ( that's what I always do!)
