Where to find agricultural grants?

I work for some commodity councils.  We would like to apply for some grants, but do not hear about many.  I have done some general google searches but I don?t think this is the best way to find them.  I found a specialty crop grant which requested submissions form commodity councils ? great, the deadline to apply was a month ago, bad L

On a few ?how to? pages they posted some links.  Some websites you had to pay for, but said little about what you would find if you did pay.

Re: Where to find agricultural grants?

  • Not sure where you're located, but there are definitely lots of resources. Have you tried the U.S. department of Ag, your state agricultural comissioner, the state university system? In GA the University of Georgia Department of Ag has a lot of connections. Also, try the local small business development authority, chamber of commerce or industrial development authority. While they may not be the source of the grants, they may be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck!
  • The first place I would contact would be your local Cooperative Extension Service.  They usually can help you out or point you in the right direction.  Like the PP said the State Department of Agriculture and University would be another place to contact as well (it's likely the Coop Ext. Service will send you here as well).

  • we do national work...but that just means there are lots of states to ask. Thanks.
