Ever After Bridal?

I am going to post this on the knot too since it is more appropriate over there, but thought I'd check here too since you all are my knowledgable friends.

My sister consigned her dress to be sold at Ever After Bridal when it was located in Valley Junction. It was a gorgeous dress and worth a decent amt of money.  We stopped by the store a month later and they said they were moving to a new location, everything seemed legit.  Today she decided she wanted to go to the  new location to reclaim her dress since it hadn't sold in over a yr (she is an impossibly small size so not likely to appeal to many), and she decided to just keep it.

Went to the supposed new location - Grand Ave and it is GONE, building is empty.

Anyone have any idea what happened to them?  They seemed nice and legit, but that is completely shaddy that they never said anything to the 100's of girls whose dresses they were holding on to for sale.

Re: Ever After Bridal?

  • WOW .... I'd be interested to know to since I have like 4 or 5 dresses that I took there.  I kept checking in with her and she told me they hadn't sold.  I didn't even realized they had moved from Valley Junction!  So glad she could notify people!

  • I feel like I just saw it somewhere...I just can't remember where???  I'll keep thinking about it!  But that really does stink that they didn't notify anybody!

  • I don't know if this is any help but I googled the store name and two addresses came up.  I don't know if one is the old address and one is the "new address" your sister already checked but I thought I would pass them along.  The phone number they list is disconnected but I did see they have a twitter account.  Maybe you could get on there and inquire about where to find them as a "new customer" and get an address that way?

     Address 1:

513 Elm Street, West Des Moines, IA 50265

    Address 2:

916 Grand Ave., West Des Moines, IA 50265

I hope you guys get her dress back!

  • Thanks Syd! We did actually look into all that. Went to the addresses, called the number, and looked at the twitter site. They last used twitter in 2009 and everything else was a no-go.  Looks like a call to the BBB is in order. :( I don't even know how that works. Do they have someone who will investigate complaints?

  • I found an old email that I had from the owner and I tried to send her an email, but it bounced.  Gosh, I'm at a loss....how else do we try to get a hold of the owner?

  • I had taken some old bridesmaids dresses there, kind of forgot about them and when I called, couldn't get ahold of anyone.  I finally called the Valley Junction Chamber and talked to someone at the bridal supply store down there.  She told me that the business went under and the owner tried to contact everyone for several months.  Those she couldn't get ahold of, their dresses were donated to a local charity that provides prom dresses for underprivilaged girls and brides.  I made this call shortly after this past Christmas.  Hope this helps!
  • I just filed a cpmplaint with the attorney generals office, as the same thing happened with me, and I know she didn't contact me.  Anyway you look at it it's called Fraud, and I intend to get my dress or money back.

I advise anyone with similar issues to do the same.
