AW: I finally finished a knitting project! PIPs

I started knitting longies (wool pants) for DS in January, and worked on the for a few days and forgot about about them. I picked them up again on Wednesday, and finished them yesterday, and I'm so glad they actually fit! Woohoo!

Rock, I'm sure you thought it would never happen at this point! Hehe

And I swear my house isn't a huge mess haha, the towels and blankets are covering pillows that are up against the fireplace because DS loooves the brick. And the water bottle is because he likes to play with them!

  • They look awesome!
  • So cute!  They look like they fit him really well.  Great job.
  • They look so cute on him!  Great job!  Is he able to wear the wool without being itchy?
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Thanks ladies!

And yeah, he doesn't seem to mind wool in the least, which is odd because he has the most sensitive skin in the world. And he has LOTS of wool!

  • Those are beautiful

  • Very cute! Such a useful talent.
  • Great job!

I keep trying to teach myself to knit but I'm having a hard time.  Most online tutorials/you tube videos show right handed people and I'm left handed.  I can't seem to wrap my head around the instructions in reverse Tongue Tied

Have you tried looking up the continental method of knitting? It's how I knit, but it's kind of backwards to people who are english knitters.

Also, when I'm learning to do something new, I watch a video and then look at still images of how to do it because it's easier to tell what I'm supposed to be doing. I have the book "Teach Yourself Visually: Knitting" and it has step by step photos of basically everything, so it's easier to follow than videos. (And it has english AND continental methods!)

  • They look awesome! And he is such a cutie pie!

Many knitters recommend that you learn to knit right-handed; it just makes everything easier.  There's actually a topic on this in the FAQ at the top of the Craft board if you're interested in reading it (along with suggestions for how to learn knitting in general).

And ditto LadyE on learning the Continental method instead of English.  I randomly learned Continental instead of the more popular English and it's actually the faster of the two methods.  It might be better for you because in Continental you hold the working yarn in your left hand; maybe that will help.

  • LadyE & Rock - thanks so much for the suggestions!  I'll give the continental method a try.  Thanks for the heads up on the crafts board too - I honestly never even noticed its existence, lol.
  • They are SO cute.

So here what you need to do. Hit your sister up to finance your store. Sell CD of all brands, plus ones you make yourself, organic baby products, knit clothing that you and Rock both make, and I'll shop at the Shrimp n Grits sample sales once a year and ship that stuff to you so you can mark it up 200% and you will be all set!

LOL, I am loving this plan!  Thanks for planning out my next career move for me, PB!  I even have the means to play a small financier role myself ;)

This is an AMAZING plan. Perhaps I can get them to sell their restaurant. I'm pretty sure the $$ for a liquor license alone is enough to fund the opening of our store!

  • So cute! I can knit  a scarf... that's about it. I don't have the patience to follow patterns etc.

I knit nothing but scarves for years. The patterns are so much easier than I expected, and once I realized I was proficient enough to actually make cool things, I started knitting a LOT more!
