OMG. WHat happened - are you okay?

Re: ***ami***

  • Thanks! We are fine but pretty sore this morning.

We were on our way home on I40 about to exit for I35 when the semi in front of us stopped really fast bad had enough room between us where we could stop in time, but not the car behind us. I don't think he even tried to stop but just tried to swerve to miss us. He hit us on the back driver side.
DH and I are pretty sick to our stomachs since this happened to the new car (we only had it for 2 weeks). But we went to the body shop today and they said since it looked like the frame wasn't messed up that it could take maybe 3 weeks to get it fixed. So we're hoping that true.

Oh also if you can avoid it never stand on the shoulder of I40. That is the scarriest thing ever! You can totally feel the ground shake when a truck passes by.

  • Since the car is brand brand brand new, you should request that they total it out. It will be a pain in the ass to convince them to do so, but eventually they will.

I am so glad you are okay! OMG!!!

  • Glad you all are okay. I know you probably don't want them to total your car but I have heard way too many stories where someone got hit and after the car was fixed it was never the same. Sad

Not to mention the hit to resale once it's been wrecked.

    I'm sorry Ami!

We had a long long talk with the body shop (it's with our dealership) and we told them if the frame work is bent in any way we want it totaled out. I would not feel safe having M ride in a wrecked car that the frame was defective in any way. They are looking at it right now to get a better look behind the damage. So we'll see what they say.

  • How scary!  I'm glad you are OK (and that M wasn't in the car, I'm guessing, since it sounds like you were heading back south from work).
  • I'm so sorry to hear that!  I hope it works out and they will total your car.  Glad everyone is ok!

    This sounds pretty terrifying!

     Glad you're both okay!
