Quick Question

I brought in some leftover grilled chicken and velveeta mac & cheese for lunch today forgetting that I have a lunch meeting with food provided.

Should I let the food I brought go to waste or put it in the freezer and eat Monday?  They're both in the same container.

Re: Quick Question

  • I hate wasting food so I say that if you just made it last night I would just freeze it.

  • Ha!  I'm the complete opposite of Montana and Diane.  I rarely eat leftover meat anyway, so even freezing it to wait a couple of days doesn't sound good to me.  So I personally would waste it.

I know, I know.  I have major issues.

See I'm like that with steak. I absolutely will not eat left over steak.

But chicken and mac n' cheese. Meh, that wouldn't bother me.

I think it'd be ok to freeze, or just put it back in the fridge when you get home and maybe eat it as an easy/quick lunch tomorrow or give it to hubby for a late night snack?

  • I agree with Megan, but that's no surprise considering we agree on most germ/bacteria related things.  I'd let it go to waste.  The idea that it was at refrigerator temp overnight, then brought out of that temp to travel with me to work, then put back at that temp...if I wasn't going to eat it today, I would throw it out.  Otherwise, it's too much temp changes for me and it would gross me out.

  • I'm bad when it comes to waste.  I've thrown out 4 chicken breasts this week (I thawed 2 breasts, then dinner plans changed, then thawed another 2 and our plans changed again).  Plus I've thrown out a half dozen of eggs, a half gallon of milk, 1/2 a pizza, leftovers from Cheddar's, a pack of green onions, 2 limes, and 2/3 of a trifle. At least that's all I can think of off the top of my head...there's probably more.  But my rule is "when in doubt, throw it out."  Poor starving children...

  • When we moved a few weeks ago I danced a happy dance as I got rid of all kinds of foods that DH bought with expiration dates waaayyyy before we started dating (that was 2008, for the record). Cheese. Condiments. Tofu.

Seriously DH?  2006 expiration dates?  You DO know it's 2011, right?????????
