DD is constipated... help!

Every since we switched to milk, Brooke has been having trouble pooping.  I've been trying to increase the amount of fruits, veggies, juice, etc in her diet and she's still crying every time she poops :(  I've even taken away all dairy besides her milk and I feel bad because she LOVES cheese!

Any of you have any magic foods that help you or your LOs go??

Thank you soooo much!

  • Same thing happened with DD1 when we switched her to cow's milk. We did what you did (e.g. increasing roughage in her diet, offering water). We also gave her diluted prune juice. I don't know which one worked, but after a couple months, the problem went away.

  • She's not getting enough water, IMO.  Dilute her milk w/water and see if that helps.  Ditto Mayette on prune juice or prune purees (for babies).

  • prune juice or even apple juice should help!
  • I didn't poop for over a week after I had Lila... prune juice worked wonders for me! lol. (sorry if that's TMI)

  • Also, hold off on bananas, applesauce and anything too starchy - it's binding and isn't helping her pass anything.

  • That only happened to DS once and he was miserable. After googling, I gave him raisins, lots of juice and also pumped his legs in a bicycling motion. Within an hour, he was a much happier little boy.

  • I had issues while PG and hate prune juice - I was told to try pear juice, too. And the instructor of one of my baby care basics classes mentioned warming up the prune juice for babies - although I honestly think that would make it worse for me, I guess it is supposed to be easier for their systems/make it more effective.
