It's almost that time of year...

Bathing suit time!  Do you have any issues wearing a bathing suit in public?  Or do you feel confident and strut your stuff?  What type of bathing suit do you typically wear...bikini?  One piece?  Tankini?

As a larger woman, people always seem to be shocked when I say I don't mind wearing a bathing suit in public.  Clearly people can tell I am big regardless of what I am wearing, so I just don't care lol.  I usually wear something like this...

I avoid them as much as I can, but usually wear something similar if I must be in one Smile

  • I'm usually in a triangle bikini.  Last year I only wore strapless suits because of the wedding.  This year I am choosing to do the same thing until the July 23rd wedding that I'm in, then I can go back to my regular bikinis.

Typically something like this for good coverage for the chest but thin on the hips so there's no exphasis on my hips!  Plus, I usually pick a "cheeky" bottom whenever I can.

  • I am a bikini kinda girl. I have become a little more reserved after gaining some pounds but I am still not shy, I figure if you don't like it, don't look. We have a pool in our backyard so I live in a swim suit most of the summer. This one is my fave:

  • I hate being in a bathing suit. Hate hate hate it.
Yep, I'm one of those girls....

Anywho, we don't have a pool, nor do any of our friends. So when the occasion arises where I need to wear a bathing suit, it's a bikini.

  • I tend to be uncomfortable about wearing a bathing suit because of my psoriasis, the sun is good for it helps it, but still makes me fell like everyone is looking at me.

I tend to stick to a bikini tho so i can get the most sunlight on all my spots, I like to stick to this kind of style on them.

  • Ugh.  I hate wearing a swim suit.  Seriously hate it.  Even when I weighed 94 lbs when I met Chris, I hated wearing a swim suit.  I'm only 5'1" (if I really stretch!) and I have super long legs and a really short torso, so I feel like I look really funny.

Anyhow, we spend a lot of weekends at the lake during the summer, and my parents have a pool, so I go over there sometimes.  I usually wear bottoms that cover as much of my big butt as possible with a top something like this:

Although I found this top last year (in stripes) and LOVED it:

  • When I lived in Phoenix I never had a problem being in a bathing suit. But since moving up north- I have become more uncomfortable in them. Not sure if is bc I have gained near 100lbs since then or the fact I don't wear them as much so I'm not used to them.

I usually wear a tankini with a skirt bottom (I have alot of scars on my legs from when I used to cut- so I don't like to show them.

But if I'm just out playing in the yard with DH I will wear a bikini top (if I can find one to hold the girls haha) or a sports bra and pair of shorty shorts. I don't mind being nearly naked around him- its everybody else I worry about. haha.

  • I used to be really self-conscious about being out and about in a swimsuit, but for some reason, in the past couple of years, I've pretty much gotten over it.  We have a pool in our backyard and we have pool parties almost every weekend, so I have a small wardrobe of cute separates that I mix and match.  Just for ease of matching, my bottoms are almost always black, but I have a whole range of tops in different prints and colors with all kinds of straps and halters.  I like tankinis best because I can keep covered when my kids' friends are over, but I can hike the hem of the top up a little when it's just us grown-ups.  I don't do bikinis yet, but I'm thinking about trying my first one either this year or maybe next summer when I've actually hit my weight loss goals.  Only time will tell...
