TR: Sleep (at night)

It feels weird to write TR instead of BR!

The last week or so we've had some major sleep issues with G, but only at night. During the day she takes great naps (probably because she didn't sleep enough the night before). She does have an ear infection and getting her molars so I'm sure that's part of it.

It started last week she would wake up twice a night and just wanted to play. She was so hyper, it took me about an hour each time but I finally got her to sleep. Since those 2-3 nights (last weekend) she's been waking more at night. Nothing seems wrong; she doesn't want a bottle & doesn't need more motrin. I know this is a normal baby thing but last night she was up every.hour. Jeff I rotated and I finally slept in her recliner for 1.5hrs, back in the crib, up 1.5hr later and slept in the recliner again for an hour.  I wish she would sleep in our bed but she thinks thats way too cool and just wants to crawl around and play in the blankets.

Any ideas to help her sleep? I'm wondering if it's seperation issues but this has to stop...Jeff and I are both drained and at a loss. I'm thinking about giving it a few days to see if it stops once her ear infection is better-but any suggestions for us if it doesn't stop?

Sorry for the rambling-my brain and body are wiped out!

Re: TR: Sleep (at night)

  • El was like this, not this past week, but the week before. I tried to rock/put her to sleep, nothing! Even tried to put her in bed, but once she saw daddy, she was was UP LOL

If she just wants to play, you might just leave her in her crib, just keep things away that she could hurt herself on. That's what we've had to do. Or else work would NOT be fun!

Sorry I don't have better advice

  • Reese still does this sometimes. If she doesn't need anything, we leave her alone and we go back to bed. She eventually goes back to sleep.

Does she cry the whole time? I tried this but she cried so hard because she wanted us to come play...I (of course) broke down and went in and tried to get her back to bed.

  • AJ went through a little phase like this around 11-12 months. It only lasted a couple weeks before he went back to his awesome sleeping habits.

At this age, there's so much learning and developing going on, it's normal for sleep to be interrupted. Hang in there.

Happy mom to two sweet, silly boys: Cohen age 4, AJ age 2.
