Anyone a member of Club One?
I'm thinking of joining for the time I'll be back home and am wondering if it's worth it. I think it's relatively expensive (it would probably be for 6 months or so), but the location at Santana Row is blocks away from my Mom's house and would be so convenient (considering I have no idea how I'm going to get around yet). But I can't lie, I'm a little intimidated by what I'm imagining the SR gym crowd to consist of...
Any other good gym recommendations for the SJ/Santa Clara/Campbell area?

I was a member of the one in Santa Clara on Lafayette and from what I remember it is $$$. I think maybe around $40-$50 a month. That was when I first moved to the area about 7 yrs ago.
Currently, I am member at the Y on The Alameda. You can always come as my guest! Right now it is $53/month with a $50 membership fee.
That's not too bad. I grew up going to that Y and my mom is still a member, so I might go that route. I just love the idea of having the gym be a 10 minute walk away. I think the one at SR is over $100 a month though, so that's kind of redonkulous. It's networked with my sister's gym in Palo Alto though, and since I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time up there, that would probably come in handy. Hmm, decisions decisions...
Thanks for the info! We should get together for a run some time.
Good point about the Y's. Thanks! SR is within easy walking distance, so luckily I wouldn't have to deal with parking. That'd be a deal breaker for sure.
I'm super late on this, so I'm hoping you'll see it... I belonged to the Club One at SR for many years. I avoided parking issues by going before work, when the stores weren't open and the only people parking in the garage were gym-goers. I never attempted going after work or in the middle of a Saturday or Sunday. Not worth it!
It is pricey, and I'm not totally convinced it's worth it. I had a teacher's discount and I was paying $75/month, but I don't think $100+/month would be worth it unless you KNOW you'll be going multiple times per week. But it is a nice gym, the classes are good, and the massage therapists are great!
Personally, I'm going to be joining a 24-hour fitness pretty soon because it's literally the only option I have close to me. For me, location makes the biggest difference, because even if I belong to the nicest gym in town, I won't make it there if it's not convenient. If SR is really going to be convenient for you, I would just go for it!
P.S. What about a discount for military families? It wouldn't hurt to ask. Many gyms have discounts for military and teachers.
