Interview Update
So I had my telephone interview for my dream teaching position this afternoon and... 15 minutes later they called me back to tell me I'm a finalist and have an in-person interview on Tuesday afternoon! I have to teach a 20 minute lesson to a class, as well as have an interview with a team of teachers and parents.
Here's what makes me nervous: I have to figure out how I'm going to get to the interview! I have to put in for a personal day 3 days in advance, so I don't know what I'm going to do. I'd rather not let on that I'm looking for another teaching position unless this other school asks for references from my current position, which then I would obviously have to tell my principal. I don't know what I'm going to say to be sure that I'm off on Tuesday afternoon...

Can you send them a "day off request now? technically, Friday night is thee days out... I don't know how it works in teaching, but in onlne advertising the hiring companies normally know that you do not want to tell your current boss you are looking, so they usually ask for past references, or someone you can trust. Are you in a state where there are unions? Do you get in trouble if you look for a different place, but decide to stay after the interview process?

Thanks, ladies! I called the school secretary today and told her that something unexpected had come up this weekend and that I need a half personal day Tuesday. She said it was fine, and appreciated that I called her, even though it was the weekend. So yay!
Now for the really important part: preparing a language lesson for 20 minutes. So not enough time! I have to introduce myself, teach the topic, create an activity, and assess the students in that short amount of time! Good news, though, is that I got a new shirt for the interview today. It's hot pink and looks very nice up against my black suit. Thanks for all the vibes, girls!
