I just had one put in last night. I did fine; def not the most
comfortable thing in the world. The insertion was more painful that I
was expecting, but thankfully that part only lasted a short while. The
cramps, though, suck. Does this pass eventually? They aren't so bad
that I can't function by any means, but they def don't feel good. I was
just curious how long you felt the cramping?? I expect it will prob
continue to subside over the day today but I'm def ready for them to go
away! TIA!
Re: Mirena users come in
I might have also gained a couple pounds after getting Mirena, but i'm about 99.9% sure Mirena had nothing to do with it (just haven't been as active as I used to + I've been a little more indulgent with desserts
). As far as acne goes, I don't think my skin has worsened, but it wasn't perfect before Mirena either.
I haven't experienced any problems from Mirena that I know of, although everyone's different. The benefits, however, are great: I haven't had a period in over a year, don't get cramps nearly as often as I used to, and it's super convenient. Mirena's pretty much the most amazing birth control EVER (haha, I'm a big fan. Can you tell?). So, if you're seriously thinking about getting Mirena, I say go for it.
By the way, sorry to hear you had a stroke. What a blessing that you're okay!
I didn't have any trouble with side effects. I hope that yours goes away soon.
I have had mine for a year this week. I am also on my first period in a year since August. I have spotted a few times, or cramped every once in a while when I should be on my period, but always mild, and never lasting a day or two until now. (this is going from having a period for a year, and it taking 3 months for this to kick in and stop the bleeding).
As for cramps, I cramped for 2 weeks after getting mine. To the point I even went in and had it checked via ultrasound to make sure it was in correctly. It was fine, I just had to heat and take it easy. After the first several days, I mostly noticed it after exercise. I would get a really nauseous stomachache and cramps after I went for a short walk, or tired to ride my bike. I lived on 800 mg ibuprofen for a few weeks!!
As for side effects, I think the biggest thing I have noticed is a extra facial hair growth on my chin and under my chin...I get a few more whiskers than I used to. But those are easily tweezed most of the time and I am fine. I love having it and probably won't use any other kind of birth control ever, as pills don't do so well for me. Good luck with your cramps.
