Do they get to reselect this with the new Congress?
I think if they can, they will.

She just doesn't have control of the Democrats in Congress. ?Case in point: in her first misguided act as Speaker she backed Murtha for Majority leader (when Steny Hoyer had been the minority Whip for years). ?No one listened to her and Steny is the Majority leader.
I haven't exactly been studying the House daily or anything, but I know she hasn't done a great job of bringing everyone together, and I think the infighting during the bailout mess highlighted that. I don't know, maybe anyone else would have had the same results and the divisiveness was more the House Rs fault than hers. But if nothing else, I think she is a symbol of that divisiveness and I would rather we start fresh.

I did know about the bailout issue (at least I'm not totally ignorant) but I figured there had to be more than that. I guess not. I mean, I understand you on the lack of leadership, but that's kinda amorphous as opposed to a series of missteps. Thanks for the explanation.
And as a Marylander, I was not happy about the dis to Steny!
I also remember a series of instances after the Murtha/Hoyer incident when she should have been able to bring enough Dem votes to the table but couldn't. ?Hang on and I'll try and find the info.?
?
Um, no. I am a liberal woman, so how would that make any sense? I agree with her on everything as far as I can tell on paper.
I think her need to trash talk Republicans during the bailout soured me on her for good. Not that I don't agree, but it was not the time at ALL. It shows bad judgment in my mind. Hopefully if she stays, That One can give her some guidance.
