Another Vegas post: How do I get the best deal?

We're thinking of going to Vegas next month. I've never been so not really sure about where to get the best deals on flight and hotel. Do I book a package deal through Expedia or a similar site? Do I book separately, and if so, what are the best sites for this? Who usually has the best airfares?

Luckily, we'll probably be going Sunday through Tuesday/Wednesday so I imagine that will help with the pricing...

Thanks!

Re: Another Vegas post: How do I get the best deal?

  • I'm useless for helping with this since we drove to Vegas from So Cal when I went. We went back in 2000 before most of those internet discount sites were really around. GL!!!
  • How can you never have been to Vegas?!! I'm no help with flights. We always drive.

But for hotels I've always used Expedia or Travelocity and gotten some pretty good deals.

My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • Post this on the Travel board.  Lots of Vegas vets and even a local on there.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • go directly to southwest.com to book your flights- trust me!  i looked everywhere, and really they have the best deals. plus they don't have baggage fees.

check out this website http://www.visitlasvegas.com/vegas/index.jsp  decide kinda where you'd want to stay(they have a map of the strip)  then go to each hotel and sign up for their internet promotions.  also, you should DEFINITELY check out http://www.citycenter.com/ it has a few hotels that are absolutely amazing....i'm SO staying there next time we're in vegas.

either way, have fun planning..i <3 vegas ;)

  • Thanks ladies!

I'm kind of embarrassed I've never been to Vegas... Guess it's time to fix that! The chance to go never really came up... DH and I have never had much of a budget for travel and when we do, Vegas was just never at the top of my list... The one time I was invited to go, for a friend's bachelorette party, was when we were just a few months before our wedding, saving every penny and just couldn't afford it. I hope we can make it happen this time!

  • I asked DH (who had been to Vegas more recently than me and has flown there) and he agreed that Southwest is the best deal for flights. I would never have gone to Vegas if a group from college hadn't wanted to go. I never had any interest in going. It was fun but I don't have any urge to go back. Hope you have fun!
  • We love Vegas! T could probably throw a lot of recs your way since he's been there a few times. :)

When they do their guys week, they always book everything separately but he and I did a package once through Expedia which worked out great. Let me ask him if he has any coupons for hotel stays...we usually have something floating around for the Monte Carlo.

  • Someone recommended this website to me:

    www.smartervegas.com

I also noticed that some hotels have better deals directly on their websites.
