Re: Fondant?

  • If you have never worked with it, I suggest buying it premade. You can get a box of Wilton white fondant for like $9.

To color it, just kneed in the color as needed. For red, I suggest buying it already colored. You can get the little kit with the 4 primary colors in it. And for brown and black, buy it already precolored. Or for bronw, start with orange and add the brown. Black just takes a lot of color and will turn your hands purple.

I use it all the time. If you need any more help or pointers, let me know.

I would also suggest getting a mini rolling pin and a little food scraper so you can get the fondant off the cutting board/counter.

    have fun!

  • I make it.  It doesn't get much easier than this, and it doesn't taste like crap!!

    1 bag mini marshmallows
    2T water
    2t flavoring
    2lb bag powdered sugar

put marshmallows, water and flavoring into bowl and melt in microwave until all mixed and soft - you can add coloring now if you want to color it.

Stir in as much powdered sugar as you can, then pour the rest of the sugar onto the counter.

Pour the marshmallows on top of the sugar and use your hands to incorporate the rest - like kneading dough

Mix in as much sugar as possible - you might need more or less - knead until smooth

Store in airtight bag...if it's too hard to roll out, you can reheat it in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it up
