In honor of 6 month anniversaries, here's a sappy poll

*your first date with H

*your first kiss with H

*how he proposed

*you're one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.)

Re: In honor of 6 month anniversaries, here's a sappy poll

  • Ok, I'll bite.  Yesterday was six months for us!

*how you met H - went to a party at a mutual friend's house.  H was up from out of state with some buddies to go to a concert.  We were all staying at the mutual friend's house and had rented a big chauffeured van to take us to and from the concert.  Got to talking at the show and were inseparable after that.

*your first date with H - I guess we normally consider this concert our first date, but if you want to get technical, while vacationing with my folks and son in his state, he came up and met my folks and took me out to dinner.

*your first kiss with H - at the above-referenced concert.

*how he proposed - He didn't.  We had been talking marriage for a couple years, because we knew we were each other's "one."  After delaying officially getting engaged for ages, I asked him if we had any plans to get married soon or what, if any, timetable he had.  We pulled out my son's school calendar, picked the date, and that was that.  We made a huge deal out of presenting our engagement to our families, though, so while we don't have a good engagement story (though people always think picking the date from the school calendar is cute!), we have great stories for telling our families.

*you're one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.) - SOOOOOO many.  I honestly don't think I can pick just one.  But meeting eyes with H as I came down the aisle was one of the most emotional moments of my life, so I guess that wins.

  • how you met H - The true version is we met on Match.com. I had signed up 2 weeks prior and DH had been on there for about 1 year. DH was actually about to cancel is account when he emailed me Smile  DH tells his buddies we meet through a friend, its our little joke.

*your first date with H: I went into our first date with no expectations at all. We had a wonderful dinner and drinks. Our date lasted over 6 hours, we were both very pleasantly surprised.

*your first kiss with H: I first kiss was romantic. It was the perfect ending to our first date.

*how he proposed: DH also didn't really propose like PP. We had been talking about marriage for some time, but we picked out my engagement ring on Feb 14.

*you're one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.)

  • How you met H:  He first saw me in a fashion show, and started asking around to get introduced.  It turned out I was dating someone he knew, so we always say we met through my ex-boyfriend.  (They are not friends anymore.)

Your first date with H:  I think our first date was a house party.  DH thinks it was going to see Lord of the Rings.  I didn't know that was a date, which is probably a good thing since I didn't like the movie.

Your first kiss with H:  I'm not entirely sure (is that bad?), but it was probably when he dropped me off after the party I consider our first date.

How he proposed:  He took me to the museum, which has an observation tower with a panoramic view of the city.  He got down on one knee, took out the ring, and proposed.  I was completely surprised!  (I also want to add that there were a lot of bystanders, but when he got down they all moved away quickly!)

Your one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.):  Probably seeing everyone when we came into the reception (I couldn't see everyone in the church).  It was really heartwarming and touching to see so many loved ones together and celebrating.

  • *how you met H  In an video game called Lineage 2.  He was a Soul Taker and I was a Hierophant in need of a party.

*your first date with H  He flew out to visit me, and after I picked him up at the airport, we went out to dinner.

*your first kiss with H  In the airport when he flew out to visit me

*how he proposed He took me up to this place called Horsetooth Reservoir.  Gorgeous place!  It's like a Bob Ross painting with the happy little trees, the lake that looked like a mirror and the snow-capped mountains in the background.  He had yellow roses and dropped to 1 knee!

*you're one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.)  Right before my dad lifted my veil, he turned to DH, shook his hand and said, "Welcome to the family."

  • Aw, fun!

*how you met H  We went to school together... since elementary, but I only really remember him starting in Junior High.

*your first date with H  Well, we were in high school, and there was nothing to do in our town, so we didn't really go on dates.  We just hung out.  He was living with a friend (yes, in high school) and I would go over and hang out at their house (sometimes friend's dad was home, sometimes not, heehee).  We'd usually watch movies.  Sometimes he'd come over to my house too.

*your first kiss with H  He was working at the grocery store in town, and I had just gotten home from a field trip.  We'd been "talking" and I stopped by to see him on my way home.  We chatted a little, and then he kissed me.  I melted, and I was a goner from then on.

*how he proposed  I came home from work on a snow day, right before Valentine's Day, and he had roses leading from the door all the way to our bedroom.  There were rose petals all over the bed, and he and our dog were hiding in the bathroom (so the dog wouldn't trample the roses - he gets excited when I get home).  They came out, he picked up the box, knelt down, and asked me!  It was totally unexpected :)

*you're one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.)  How smiley he was during the whole ceremony.  He was a happy guy!

  • awww I love all of these!

How you met H:  We met during move-in weekend Freshman year of college.  My neighbor and I met first, and we went down the hall, asking everyone to dinner. H was one of those who came with us, and we spent the rest of the night walking around campus, talking (with others.)  When I broke up with my HS bf, I cried on his shoulder. ;)
Your first date with H:  Applebees. What, we were 18 and poor college students ;)  The first fancy date was for my birthday when he took me to dinner and a play (at Guthrie Theatre.)
Your first kiss with H:  I kissed him, kind of on a challenge from him. It was awkward and slobbery. I'm glad I didn't give up then! (and, yes, it's now great.)
How he proposed:  He had planned for us to go to a play (at the same Guthrie Theatre) for Christmas. That day, he had a dozen roses sent to my work. I didn't think much of it originally, because he had been saying he felt bad for not giving me flowers.  Then I got home, and there were 3 dozen roses on the counter. (Yes, I finally started wondering...).  He just said he wanted our date to be special, and convinced me that was it.  We were getting ready for dinner, when he came around the corner with a 5th dozen roses. The ring was sitting in the bouquet, he got down on one knee, and the rest is history.

Your one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.):  Seeing my dad tear up as we walked into the ceremony, right as I saw H for the first time. It was exactly like I had always pictured it. :)

  • *how you met H: We're such nerds. So basically he joined our church young adult group to meet a wife. ;) But he's a really quiet guy and didn't get noticed right away. He showed interest in me after seeing me at the Christmas party and by showing up to the surprise birthday party (January) some of my brand new church friends threw me (I too had just joined the group seeking friendship, and yeah, a husband!).

But I was interested in another guy one city over. I remember him walking me to my car after my party, and thinking, "This poor guy. He's cute but he'll have to find someone else. I'm sure he'll be fine." Anywho, after several attempts to get my attention being thwarted by my lack of interest, he gave up. 6 months later, after things crashed with the other guy, he suddenly became the most eligible bachelor at the parish and girls were drooling over him. I realized perhaps I should have paid attention to what was right in front of me months ago. So I took a risk and asked him out (I had to beat the other girls to the chase, right?) and he accepted.

*your first date with H: A double date with our two match-maker friends who had been egging us both on to go out after our ships passed in the night. :) Saw a cheesy movie and spent the rest of the night talking in the parking lot.

*your first kiss with H: 2 weeks after our first date - we had hung out every single day since that first date (much to the chagrin of some of the other ladies :)), and he finally made a move. We were both so nervous and awkward.

*how he proposed: A little over 2 years later, he took me to "the city" a coupla hours away to celebrate his birthday. After a trip to a cool museum, he took me to a cathedral but his attempts to propose there were thwarted. So then he took me to an even bigger church: a Basilica - and proposed there (ha!). Lots of funny details to the proposal and very memorable and sweet.

*you're one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.) How my hubby suddenly got "dancing feet" and danced East Coast Swing to Buble's "Everything" with me to our first song (he had had approximately 4 very informal swing dance lessons the weeks prior to the wedding so this was pretty close to a miracle :)).

  • How you met H:   We met at work and eventually started to actually work on the same project.

Your first date with H:  We count our first real date as going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. (But before that we had already gone to see "The Incredibles" and went running together)
Your first kiss with H:  He kissed me one night getting out of my car. He was so nervous, he actually kissed my chin instead. Oops :)
How he proposed:  We went back to The Met and he handed me a piece of paper. At first I was mad, I didn't want to hold more of his garbage, but it was actually a personalized scavenger hunt he had put together for me through the museum. After I solved all the clues (some of which were impossible!)  we ended in our favorite part of the museum.  I unscrambled one letter from each clue to spell out "Will You Marry Me" and as I did, he was down on one knee with the ring.

Your one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.):  During our rather long ceremony, H turned to me to ask "What just happened?" and I whispered back "I think we just got married" :)

  • *how you met H:  I'm good friends with one of his sisters and she invited both of us to go dancing.

*your first date with H: We did so many things with a group of friends our first date was actually 2 weeks after we were officially BF/GF.  He came down to Houston and we went out to dinner and then went back to my house to watch movies.  We are both big movie fans.

*your first kiss with H:  Probably during movie 3 or 4 that night...hee hee.

*how he proposed: It was on May 9th last year.  We had gone out of town to a B&B in the Texas hill country (y'all should go if you ever have a chance) for a romantic weekend.  He wanted to ask me there but he had a hard time getting my dad alone to ask his permission.  We got back to my house that Sunday and he had to leave to meet a work crew in Austin.  On his way there he just knew he had to do it then so he called my dad, met up with him, got his permission, and showed up at my house 3 hours after he had left.  He said he forgot something, gave me a hug & got down on one knee.  It didn't go as he had planned, but in my eyes it was perfect.

*you're one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.):  Hmm...probably taking our first look pictures.  It calmed my nerves and I liked that we got to talk to each other for a little while.

  • *how you met H We were in a play together.  He was cast opposite me in an original play that my sister wrote for a gaming convention.  He played a sarcastic bounty hunter and I played his money-grubbing, slut-tastic love interest.  We got together on a few occasions to rehearse, and after a few weeks, we started dating.

*your first date with H We went to go see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.  Terrible film, but such a good night.  We cuddled through the whole movie :)

*your first kiss with H The night before one of our rehearsals, we were all crashing at a friend's house.  We were alone in one room, cuddling, and then suddenly we both just leaned in and went for it.

*how he proposed He slung the diamond around his cat's collar and handed me the cat, to find the ring.

*you're one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.) The first time I saw him, standing at the front of the church.  We had been apart all day, and I was so excited to see him.  I remember that clearer than anything.

  • *how you met H We met on eHarmony. We both signed up with the intentions of giving it one month. Within 2 days of me being on and a week of him being on, he contacted me.

*your first date with H He took me to this fancy little Italian restaurant. After dinner, we walked down by the river for a while, just talking.

*your first kiss with H I went to his house the first week after one of my classes. We cooked dinner together (he wanted to test my cooking skills by having me make a box of Uncle Ben's long grain wild rice ... such a prediction of cooking skills Smile). After dinner, we sat around, drinking wine and watching TV. I was tired, so he walked me out to my car. He pulled me in for a kiss and after the kiss, he smiled at me and said "I'm so happy right now". It was so sweet.

*how he proposed After work, we stopped at our favorite little dive bar to grab a bite to eat and to have some beers. When we got home, we walked in through the garage. He turned me around, gave me a kiss and asked me if I would marry him. I didn't really think anything of it since he had been asking me that for the past couple of weeks. Well, this time, he pulled away, went to his tool box and came back to me with the ring and said "Will you?"

*you're one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.) After the ceremony and before we were announced, DH and I took a moment to ourselves in the bridal room. He told me how beautiful I was and said that he was the luckiest man to have me.

  • *how you met H Match.com I winked at him over a long christmas break at my parents house.

*your first date with H We went to see Walk the Line, we were both Johnny Cash fans so it fit.  Then we decided to hit a cute little tapas bar on the way home and closed the place down.

*your first kiss with H Date 3 we went to meet each other and some friends at a Johnny Cash impersonator concert. He did it as we were walking out nad promptly ran away and left me standing in a stupor with my friend.

*how he proposed I knew he bought the ring, but it had been months.  It was my bday and another friend came up to stay and celebrate with us for dinner. He got all weird.  I thought the box was a cell phone until he told me I couldn't open it that night. He didn't sleep all night and my friend and I got very suspicious. Finally the next morning she excused herself to go to church (to get the hell out of the way) and he asked me over coffee on my front porch. He was practically dying.

*you're one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.)

Our first look. No one could find him to lead him out to the courtyard where I was. So I waited and waited getting more and more nervous. I was just so relieved he was there when he finally walked up.

  • **I'm a 5 monther but I'm still going to participate!!**

     Tell me about:

    *how you met H

Well its a long story over the span of several years.  In 2000 we were set up on a blind date by mutual friends (my best friend and her now H to be exact).  My H worked with them both.  We double dated and went out to dinner and a movie. My H was going through a divorce at the time and seemed to talk about his EW quite a bit.  Not impressive IMO.  Anyways obviously we didn't hit it off...I thought he was a jerk...oops.  So 5 years later in 2005 I met this guy on yahoo personals and we hit it off instantly online and decided to meet.  So I asked him to double date with my sister and her H to a fundraiser to support my nephews football team.  He agreed and when we met and started talking we realized that we had met before.  We both were at different places in our lives and both had grown up since that first meeting 5 years earlier.  We have been together ever since.

    *your first date with H

A fundraiser for my nephews football team.  We won seat cushions and when we left he put both of them in my car and said we will use them at all the games.  I thought "yea right"  Guess what...we used the same seat cushions for 6 football seasons until both nephews graduated from HS.   Now we will be using them for his nephews games.  Each time we think of our first date.

    *your first kiss with H

Was on the second date in his sunfire and I had a fractured rib.

    *how he proposed

He proposed Christmas morning 2009 in front of my family while we were all opening gifts.  My sister was passing the gifts out and handed me a gift from my H and I thought must be earrings. I started to open it and he got down on one knee and proposed.  It was so wonderful to share that moment with my family whom we are both super close to.

*you're one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.)

I have so many its hard to choose.  I'm going to be a rebel and share three.

The first one is when we were pronounced husband and wife and we walked down the aisle to the back of the church together.  I had the biggest smile on my face because I knew that I am going to have a lifetime of happiness.  I just married my best friend, the love of my life.  I knew that I was ready to experience the ups and downs of life with him and I knew that I was safe in whatever life threw our way.

The second one was walking down the aisle with my deceased dad's picture attached to my bouquet and my two nephews walking behind me down the aisle to give me away.  I wanted my dad to be the one walking me down the aisle from above but I wanted my 18 and 20 year old nephews to be the ones giving me away.

My third memory...is the reception.  Instead of doing father/daughter dance I danced with both of my nephews.  One was a swing dance and the other was a waltz.  My oldest nephews gilfriend sang the songs that we danced to and it was extra special because in two weeks he is going to propose to her and she will be my niece.  And here she had such a huge role in our wedding that we can always share.

  • *how you met H At work -- we both DJ'd for the same company

*your first date with H We didn't think of it as a date at the time b/c I was kinda with someone else; we didn't kiss or anything. But we'd gone to this particular park where Bob Dylan supposedly wrote "All Along the Watchtower" b/c the only thing he knew about northern MN was that Bob Dylan was from there and so was I, and he wanted to impress me. Then we went to Old Chicago to eat.

*your first kiss with H We'd been hanging out as friends for awhile, and the first night we hung out after I'd broken it off with the other guy, he kissed me when he was walking me to my car after we'd left a friend's place.

*how he proposed He had to see some new DJs playing (he's now running the company we both worked for) so he had his suit on for work. He called and asked if I wanted to go to a nice place that we'd been wanting to try for awhile, since he was already dressed up and all. Nevermind that I was in PJs cleaning the house. =) Instead of driving straight to the restaurant, he drove to the park where we went on our first date and asked me to marry him. I had no idea he even had the ring; we'd never looked together or anything. Such a surprise!

*you're one favorite memory from the wedding day (yes. only one.)

Ugh, if I HAVE to just pick one, I'll say when he called me earlier that day. We already lived together, so I stayed at the hotel where the wedding was the night before. He was going to play disc golf and get some things set up w/the guys while I went to the salon w/a bunch of the ladies. We were just pulling into the parking lot to grab lunch, and he called to tell me that everything was set up. A totally unnecessary call, and even though he didn't say it, I could tell that he only called b/c he was SUPER nervous. It was so sweet...
