curly-haired ladies (jennrs, mrsscottbrady, etc)

I have naturally wavy/curly hair (the hair by my face is very curly, the stuff in the back just wavy). What do you use as far as products? On the really humid days, straightening it doesn't last long and I end up with frizzies.. When I used to wear it curly, I would use gel and Aussie scrunch spray but that made it sort of crunchy.. what do you  use?

I use a curl conditioner (treseme), gel and if needed a little spray gel to tame any frizzies that I may have. I also blow dry my hair upside down for 30 seconds to lose the wet hair look.
  • I use the Aveda Be Curly line and finish with their Firmata hairspray and it works really well.  I've also used Jessicurl and Deva Curl and loved both of them, but they are a bit more pricey---they are both sulfate free and do wonders for naturally curly and wavy hair, I'm actually thinking about going back to one of them.

  • For something cheap I've had pretty good luck with the Herbal Essence curl mousse...sold everywhere.  I've used every.thing.  I'm using up a bottle of bumble and bumble but it's not life changing or anything.  I really love the naturallycurly.com site... I have very thick curly hair if that helps?

  • I use a mousse too.  I think the one I have is made by Wella and you can get it at any of the salon stores (Ulta, Beauty Brands, etc.).  I think it gives great hold without the hair being crunchy.  It's easier to get it evenly spread throughout my hair than gel which sometimes makes my hair look wet in sections where more gel was applied than others.
