Let's say you have a second interview with firm A last Monday, but have not heard back, yet. Then you had an interview with firm B on Thursday and was offered the position on Friday. You really want to work for firm A but if that didn't work out, firm B would be a really great second choice. Do you call or email the hiring manager at firm A and let them know you received another offer but they are your first choice and want to know what the deal is? If so, how do you professionally say that? You need to let firm B know by Wednesday, so just waiting around isn't really an option. Thanks!

Yes

I wanted to check on the status of Job A. I received an offer from another firm, but I really want to work for you and I think I'd make a great addition to your team. I wanted to get an idea of your hiring timeline.
