I've loved seeing the other birthday cakes! Riley's party was a couple weeks ago and here's what I did:

I wish I hadn't done the flowers on the skirt because it got a bit Hawaiian, and the ruffles at the bottom got mushy, but overall I was happy with it. It was 3 layers - chocolate, strawberry, and yellow.

The fairy cake is adorable...and so is your daughter!
It was the whole doll lol. My mom didn't realize when she went to cut the cake and tried to do it with the doll still in it - didn't go too well! Thank you for post that, too, DH and I were trying to remember the fairy's name haha.
Not a problem
All three of my girls went through a Tinkerbell phase, so I know more than I'd care too on the subject, lol. Very neat idea using the doll, too, that way Riley can play with her after!
