Speaking of haircuts...

I haven't found a new stylist since we moved here. Anyone care to recommend somebody in the Portland area? (we live in Falmouth) I'd be willing to drive 20-30 minutes for someone really awesome.

Re: Speaking of haircuts...

  • I don't have any advice for stylists in the area, but all I could think of when reading this post title was "b!tches love my new haircut". Now I have to go look up the video and giggle.

  • When I lived in Portland, I used to go to Head Games Salon.
  • I posted about this not long ago - I moved to Portland over the summer and had been looking for someone since then.  I just got a pretty drastic cut done at Ferrichia on India Street and went back yesterday for a complimentary "touch up" between cuts.  Ali is the stylist that I've been seeing - she just seemed to actually care that I loved how my hair came out and has mentioned a few times that I can call any time with styling questions or even come by when I'm having, essentially, a "bad hair day," so she can see what is bothering me about the cut.

ETA: If you're super-motivated, they are actually doing a fundraiser on Sunday - $32 haircuts and proceeds go to HopeCuts (benefiting cancer, HIV/AIDS and diabetes research and education at City of Hope) - from noon to 5:00.  If you attend, you'll also get $5 off your next haircut there.  I just got an email from them about it.

  • I adore Brenda at O2 Salon in Portland. She's amazing. However, I decided on a whim the other day that I wanted a trim and hubby was getting his done at Master Cuts at the mall and I just figured I'd join him since I was just looking for a trim. A stylist named Michelle gave me the greatest trim EVER and when I told her I was going out for my birthday th at night, she offered to style it for free. When I say style, I mean she did a blowout and then curled it and pinned part of it back. It was incredible. I'll probably start alternating between the two of them from now on.
  • I'm on the cheapskate end of the spectrum and recently got a very nice cut from Jade at Touch of Style on Washington Ave in Portland for like $30 plus tip. She also cut my little boy's hair and I was pleased.  I'd recommend her, though I've only had one cut so far!  I do plan to go back to her though.
